Bought a temp switch for my fans in the Mazda some time ago. I had to replace the water pump and pump housing to the newer aluminum version with another boss. After getting it all welded to work, tapped the hole right for the switch I bought from napa that IIRC was like a 195on 185off.... normally OPEN switch.......

The switch is normally closed. The bastards! I should have thrown a volt meter on it, but alas I never did so I also Fail.

Now I have a boss tapped for 16mm/x1.5, no switch, and it's all together now. Don't really feel like pulling it all off and cleaning all the goo to weld/tap another hole.

argh

I think i'm done with napa fan switches. I'm on my 3d this last year and this one is currently dead as well.

Found Autometer makes a 16mmx1.5 sealing washer to 1/8" NPT brass adapter for $11. Derale makes a 1/8" NPT switch 190 on, 175 off, for $25.

Summit order made!

Only thing I don't like about the switch is it's a two wire. So rather than grounding at temp, it joins the two leads. But that's easy enough to slap a ground of one lead.

Should have stuck with 3/8 tapered pipe. Razz

The quality of Napa's product, as well as their staff, seems to be in a race to the bottom with Autozone and O'Rielly's.

Well Originally I was going to use the hole that was already there, that's why I bought the 16mmx1.5 switch.

Seemed like extra work to weld it up and tap for another version when I found one that was "supposed" to work.
