With a comment like that, no shop that isn't race oriented will build it right. Get a hold of probuiltautomatics. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

Not sure I'd trust Dana any more either. He quit answering tech questions because he was getting too many complaints on his own forum. I needed the instruction sheet for the shift kit I bought from him because it wasn't working right. He recommended changing to a different valve body but I had lost the kit paperwork. He kept saying he'd send it and never did. Then I discovered I'd scanned the instructions into my computer.. and I found the files. Transmission still doesn't shift down like it should and my question sat unanswered on his forum forever. |

Abc did some shotty work in my opinion, granted I stick to manuals because I hate autos with a passion. From the damage and their story of what caused said damage there's a lot of holes. I think you just need a legitimate transmission built by a legitimate shop lol you don't run a stall, you don't beat the tar out of it 24/7, you just need a transmission that isn't going to say.....shift itself into park while driving? _________________ If you expect a kick to the balls and get a slap to the face its still a victory

Wow Dana was the shizzle ten years ago.
Oh well.
If you want a high quality above stock rebuild but not race version, talk to John with Clark County Transmission in Vancouver, Wa. I've had several built by them and sent many more happy customers to them. They can upgrade a bit. Great service.
If you want something beefier, he's the man id ask. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

Ellis Groo at Speed Secrets. His shop is in downtown Snohomish, Bickford Ave, behind the AM/PM.

His refresh on my brothers 4L65E is holding up well behind his 402 LS2 stroker. Ellis started out building 700R4's for Kirkland Transmission. He know specializes in tuning but knows how to build GM A4 tranmissions. |

They are not to hard to build up correctly once you understand them. You could always get some books go at one. Once you understand the workings of them the rest is gravy.
I was lucky enough to work along side an older GM tech that for years just R and R'd transmissions and he knew them in and out. He also knew how to tweak them to perform. He saw me building my own transmissions and came over a lot to give his advise and lend a hand. He used to laugh at the carnage I would produce at the track.
They are not the mythical creature some make them out to be. _________________

I rebuilt my transmission getting parts from a local shop and ordered a torque converter online. An automatic is not nearly as complicated as people make them out to be. Just like a carburetor it seems complex and scary till you have it apart. |

They rebuilt the 700R4 in my T/A after the original owner blew it up. I think he said they put the shift kit in too, but I can't remember. I was using this car as my DD for a few months and I drove the piss out of it, shifting it manually. All I can say is, so far, so good. _________________ '86 Trans Am - 5.0L TPI - LT1 cam - 700R4 - WS6
