so ive been trying to help my buddy with a 69 ford F250 V8 390ci and he said his carb is bad so he tried to do a 4 barrel carb to 2 barrel manifold adapter and it fits but the linkages dont match up. is it even worth it to toy around making a 4 barrel work or should we just get a new OEM 2 barrel carb to put on. i have never worked on a carbed engine before so i have no idea what to do lol _________________

1) Why does he think the carb is bad? That Autolite 2V is a very well regarded unit. A rebuild should not be difficult and the kit is only like twenty bucks.
2) Does he have an engine hoist? (He will need one to change the intake manifold on that FE.)
3) All Ford linkage of that era is solid rod. You often have to be clever with the bending and redrilling and clips to make things work properly. |
