Well, I think I may have found the car that I am looking for. It is a 91 RS with about 100,000 miles on it. 305, 5spd T-tops... It's got the '92 ground effects on it and 16" wheels. Just wondering if the engine in the car is supposed to be TPI or TBI or Carbourated??? What ever is in it looks brand new, there is like no oil/grime/dirt at all in the engine compartment. Let me know so I can put more thought into before I decide on buying it. I did test drive it and boy, it will be fun to have a V8 Very Happy Gave the sales guy a nice little ride (dude was holding onto the dash board the whole time) Wink

What did the top of the engine look like? Was it TPI or TBI?

Was it like a carb setup looking or did it have 8 big silver runners?

Well.. if it is stock it would be TBI... visually TPI and TBI are real obvious and they didn't put TPI in the RS cars.

TBI and Carbs use the same style air cleaner assembly but its really easy to tell the difference between the two, just pull the lid to the air cleaner and you should see injectors on a TBI car.

Good luck and hope that helps! Smile

Cool, then I wasn't smoking crack... Must be TBI since it was set up pretty much the same was as a Carbed engine. Still a really nice, clean bright red car. Very Happy

What is the posibility/difficulty level to switch to TPI?

It's not a LS6, but don't under estimate the TBI.

Justin, what did you put down? My 305 TPI peanut put down 180HP and 283lb ft. W/ headers and a lean condition.

If TBI IS right in with that, Go TBI.

I am going TBI on my jimmy when I find the parts.

whare did you find the car? (what part of town/dealership)
fine out if you can get any kind of service history on it.
get a car fax on it.
and if you do get it you should check the breaks and pull a valve cover before you think about up-grading anything.

If it is a sin to look damn good. Then yes it is.

I always though 'maro wheels looked great on birds.

But... biggest I see them is 15inch, and I am way into 17 inchers.

At Cars to Go on 82nd and BurnSide
Plan on getting a car fax on any car that I look at
I will try to get the service history
Breaks felt good and thanks for the heads up on pulling the valve cover.

for the brake you want to know hoe much you have left on the pads and shoes so you might be able to tell how long until you will need new ones.

when you pull the valve cover you wnt to check for sludre build up how much. plus liik to see in any valve train parts are heavely watn including Valve springs have the been ofer heated and what do their seats looklike.
