Need a quick download on the Trailblazer SS. I'm looking at a highly modified 3SS with all-wheel drive. I know NOTHING about these rigs, other than the one I'm looking at is quick.

Was it a complete piece of junk that Chevy should have never made, or is it a piece of engineering wonder? I'm also looking at Jeep SRT8 but shying away because I just don't know anything about Hemi engines and I do know something about the LS2 engines. And the TBSS seems to be lower price.

Hehe.

The engine is made by Isuzu.

And they haven't figured out how to use a CAN network yet.

That's all I'm going to say.

I don't know anything about the SS models but I had a LT EXT 4x4 with the aluminum 5.3 and I blew away my buddies Nova with it regularly. It was good for me I loved the stereo. Was nice and smooth, quiet and drove like a car.

...What is gods name are you blathering about? The SS comes with an LS2. Isuzu? Laughing

The TBSS is an okay truck. Well...like a lot of things the motor is great but the truck is subpar. The motor is CRAMMED in there. Don't plan on being happy doing any work to it and it still come with a 60/65e instead of a big 80 trans. (Which at this weight and power level it should have). It's not overly comfortable like a denali or escalade but its not relatively light/nimble to make up for it either.

I know people that love theirs but they hardly ever run them hard.

That's a little discouraging but good to know.

This one has a 4L70E with a 413 LS2. How does the AWD hold up to power?

Let's just say that we rebuilt about 3-4 front diffs a month on FACTORY TBs... Maybe it's just shitty drivers but maybe it's not.

I mean the materials are nice with all the fake suede and fancy inserts and such but the foam behind them is the same hard planks you'd find in a base colorado.

No love for the ML63? I would think pricewise it would be on par with the SRT8. That AMG 6.2l is a amazing peice of work.

Hmmm... now you got me double thinking. But that's why I asked for info. Thanks!

Those are twice the price, Dew. And I wouldn't want to see the first repair bill.

SRT8's must be cheaper out there, out here a quick craigslist search showed them about the same.

Yeah, Merc repair bill would not be fun, but let me tell you, everyone should get a chance to drive any one of the AMG63's, you will have a huge grin on your face, and the first time you hear the overrun noise you will be a believer.

Hmm the one my boss had must have been mis-badged then. It said Vortec on it, which is the isuzu motor.

Don't all the truck motors say Vortec on them?

Probably. Isuzu makes good stuff. Not a problem either way.

So now that I know what to ask I found the engine has only 5K miles and already the front differential has been rebuilt. I already have a toy. I just thought it would be fun to have a wicked daily driver since my Cherokee gets only 14 mpg anyway. Seems this isn't exactly a reliable daily if you like hole shots from stop lights (and that's exactly what I would do... a lot Laughing )

My cousin has a "Trollblazer", yes, the Saab 9-7X with the LS2. It is basically a Trailblazer SS with Saab badges. I've never driven it, but rides real nice! Cool

And that's exactly why I mentioned it because I know *I* would be launching it all the time. Laughing

Could it have a been a regular TB? The SS comes with fairly bland cover that just says SS.

Is it actually the 6.0 or the 5.3? I have this a-bit-more-than-mild affection for SAAB rebranded vehicles. I think the 9-7x looks much better than even the TBSS and the saabaru 9-2x looks so much better than the WRX.

It is the real-deal LS2 version. It is damned fast for an SUV! Cool
