Yes, I must have 750hp now! I installed a set of chrome moly pushrods. Thats the secret you know.
Some of you may remember where that came from.
Really though, I just had the heads off of my truck motor. Replacing some valve guides I screwed up the first time around. This time I reamed all the guides out to 0.500 and installed press in iron guides. Then redid the valve job. Bought a set of pushrod checkers and springs and they said I needed pushrods 1/8" shorter. Kind of opposite of what I was expecting. Never measured them the first time, but I had a nice narrow witness mark just to the exhaust side of the valve center, so I figured I was allright.
Mostly I just wanted to quiet this motor down. This did it.. a bit. Still lots of valve noise at idle. But quieter cruising. Also I must have been having some sealing issues because the vacuum guage is rock steady now. Not twitchy at all. |
