1986 Chevrolet Camaro RS

PostPosted: Fri Jan 20, 2012 8:12 pm    Post subject: For Sale: 1986 RS, $3500 Reply with quote

Well, I think its time to say farewell. It's not that I want to get rid of it, I just don't drive it and I would rather see someone else enjoy it than have it sit and rot. Beefy is a project car but not much of anything is needed to drive it. And I have tons of random stuff that comes with it that no craigslister would need. I'm not going to part it out. I have a title and I can drive it anywhere. So please, let me know if you are interested.

For Sale

The vehicle is primered black with omni sealer primer, tinted windows at 30%, has keyless entry with alarm, and 4th gen front cloth seats. The car is a runner, complete, and straight aside from there are no rear seats or back plastic for spare tire cover. All normal vehicle functions work including power door locks, power windows, power rear hatch, rear defroster, dome lights, int wipers, headlights, map lights, heater, power steering, but not the cruise control and no e-brake. Vehicle starts and runs every time. The car is loud, low, very fun to drive, and handles fairly well. It has been autocrossed, it has been drifted, it has not been drag raced. This has been my project car for the past 8 years so I know a lot about it. I am selling it to learn something new and let someone else enjoy it. I have put a hundred miles on it in the past 2 years but start it up every other weekend to warm it up.

I am asking $3500 for everything listed. If you feel it's worth less and you are interested, we can talk about it. I would love to sell it to someone in the crew so I can keep tabs on it. Thank you.

Ya, I know. I just don't have the time to keep going with it. I'm going to keep playing with it until someone wants it, of course. And I have a ton of cool parts that goes with it.

I'm with stupid

Although I'd be thinking more like a four speed and a lower rear gear because I can appreciate needing to outline a project that actually might get done someday. Embarassed

That's the other bit, money. The next step for the car would be to spend some serious money. T56, new slugs, 9" swap, cage... and all for something I don't have the time to play with.

That is a sinister looking car. Somebody is really going to enjoy it.

I think a jerico or something similar would go much better than a t56 with the "theme" or "style" this car has. This car is seriously cool. Sad to see it go.

I hope it doesn't "go". I'd love to see someone scoop it up and stay around. I think the price is reasonable with all the stuff that comes with it. If someone wants the non-bolted on parts just speak up.

Price is getting cheaper, around $3000. If anyone wants any of the spare parts listed above, i will be making a run to bremerton at the end of next week and can meet up with whomever. I have a collection of front and rear springs, sway bars, and random grey interior parts.

If the rear end with brakes is still available, that definitely sounds like something I'd be interested in.

I might have the rear sold. The disclaimer on it is it is a 26 spline 3 series case with a 2 series carrier, 3 series gear, with an adapter. In other words, it wont hold up to the abuse of a small block.

Awww, guess not then, although I just have the stock 305 with no plans for changes soon...

I was hoping that would turn out to be a good way to both move away from drums and get a better ratio, but if it won't work that's irrelevant.

Thanks anyway!

Drum to disk is an easy conversion. I think it took me a couple hours last time. Also, I have a 28 spline auburn if you have the axles.

For the brake swap, I've heard that it's often easier to just grab an entire rear end...

As to the diff, since I've got a 91, assuming I've got the stock axles they should be 28-spline. What's the gear ratio? I did have it mentioned to me that it looked like my diff had been making metal at some point

It is just the carrier. No gears on it. I have never ran or taken it apart so I don't know the condition of the cones.
