the problems we have been having with the transmission are that it doesnt want to shift out of first. If you pull the cable several times if will act normally for awhile.. The fluid was in real poor condition. we more or less want to make sure nothing is hanging up in the servo. ANd while we have it out to clean it up. we want to upgrade to the performance corvette style..

Thanks for your help everybody

Any other ideas why it wont shift out of first??? it doesnt slip at all..

Sounds like what you really want to mess with is the TV assembly in the valve body. That is whats connected to the cable. If it doesnt work smoothly or hangs up shifting will be affected and the trans could burn up.

My experience with the corvette tv sleeve wasnt good. In fact I removed mine. It wouldnt shift down when I wanted it to, just stayed in 4th lugging.

I'd take the pan off and remove the tv plunger, sleeve and spring. I'd replace the spring. If its tension changes shifting and longevity will change. Polish up the piston and sleeve. If they're loose then replace them.

Here's a great place to pick up new parts for automatics.

And I think this is the kit to fix the sticking tv valve issue.
