If you don't have the proper Computer Controlled Quadrajet and cable for it...

And you have an old Q-Jet, Holley, or Edelbrock carb.....

Then you HAVE to get the bracket setup from Bowtie Overdrives.
http://www.bowtieoverdrives.com/index.shtml

Otherwise you'll burn up your 700R4.

Period.

No questions.
No what ifs.
No "I have this and it works now."

YOU WILL BURN UP THE TRANS WITH ANY OTHER SETUP.

I have a non CC quadrajet, so wouldn't the cable and bracket off a factory Carb car work?

I read what you wrote and I have been to that site. I am just wondering why then a factory set up minus the computer part of the Carb wouldn't work?

Most of the earlier quadrajets do not have the transmission peg in the correct spot. Get it wrong and you will burn up the transmission.

The correction brackets that holley and edlebrock sells are not correct either. Been down that road myself. I finally bought the bowtie kit for my holley. After that the transmission shifted perfectly.

There's tons of info on bowties website about where the peg is supposed to be. If it is correct then you're fine.
