Did a little work to the 87 tonight too. Since I put Paul's old 6al on the 74 that meant I had an extra 6a. So I installed the 6a on the 87. A few years ago I had a mallory digital 6a on it and the car ran much better with it.. well that hasnt changed with the msd. Cold motor and it is a whole lot smoother then it was before. Some people dont think you'll gain anything with an ignition box over hei.. well this sure seems to be better!
Here's where I "hid it"

Cool! I had a guy tell me that he hasn't changed is plugs in like 10 years because of one of those boxes making better spark and keeping them clean. I think he's crazy but is there any truth to that? lol _________________

| Umm... plugs don't go bad over a course of years. How many miles are on them? |

Ya.. CD and multiple spark up to a certain rpm. Old school ignition now days.. but hey it really seems to work for me.
Seems to me that plugs would actually wear out faster since they're firing up to 3x as much.. But the thing does increase voltage bunch to jump the worn gap.. of course that causes your wires to wear out... lol |

I put one in that position on my '91 RS. I prefer it above the non-AC heater box however. _________________ '86 Trans Am - 5.0L TPI - LT1 cam - 700R4 - WS6

When my car was stock it had a weird stumble at lith throttle / light load. Never through a code and the tune was good. I installed a 6AL and the problem went away. That was about 15 years ago.
I remember trying to mount it where you did, but it would have taken a bunch of spacers or the EVAP canister / EVAP plumbing was in the way. I mounted mine on the passengers side frame rail just behind the battery. It was a PITA, but it satys dry and I can still swap the rev limiter chips.
You can barely see it in this picture http://s299.photobucket.com/albums/mm295/IROCDAVE/1987%20IROC%202009%20new%20settup/?action=view¤t=SBCroundtwo12-29-09015.jpg |
