Does an automatic transaxle require the pump to be primed?
I just got my Taurus back together after rebuilding the transmission and it doesn't move in any gear. I'm hoping that the pump isn't sucking fluid up yet. |

All oil working pumps need some fluid in them before start up to seal the sides, otherwise they just freeball. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

I have 13 quarts in it right now, I don't have the tools to check line pressure but I suppose I could loosen a cooler line and see if anything comes out with the engine off. They were bone dry when I put it together.
I have no idea how to prime the thing if it does need it. |

I'd try suction on each cooler line somehow.
Also, rev it up a bit. Alot of pumps don't get moving until off idle. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

| I guess I can try using the vacuum pump on one of the lines or something. Do you think I could push fluid into the valvebody/pump assembly through one of the cooler lines? |
