I need to replace or rebuild the injectors for my 1989 2.8.
It had incorrect injectors installed (21.2lb@ 43.5psi) the car is supposed to have 14.5.I reinstalled the facotry ones I got with the car, and of course they were horrible as well. I don't know what is wrong with them, but it misfires and hesitates. I measured the ehaust temps on the manifolds, i know it's not scientific but there were triple digit fluctuations between cylinders.
Anybody able to reccommend a source for a set of injectors or injector cleaning? |

| I should have remembered them. I saw the corvette they sponsor at Pacific Raceway. Only could see the the stickers when the front end was off the ground which was...quite a lot really. |

I would buy another set used. The set that John gave you with the car was one he amalgamated from two sets I pulled at the junkyard.
I think it would be more money to get them working right then it would be for a known-good used set.
Just my two cents. |

| Do you still find injectors at the junkyard? Flea and I went to 2 yards a couple weeks ago and every single v/6 had the top popped and the injectors taken. |

| I'm down for whatever gets the car going again. For now I'm just going to put the 3.8 injectors back in it so it's atleast driveable. If I had the right adapter and stuff for it I'd try to just change the injector scalar. It runs okay until it gets into PE mode and it just goes ridiculously rich and putters out. In fact I may still look into it. I never thought of it this way until I started typing it here but another adapter so I can insert a new chip is probably a lot cheaper than injectors considering I already have a burner and emulator. |

John and I found two or three sets at the Tumwater Pick-A-Part back when they a row of thirdgens there.
I have been noticing a lot of them gone from various cars, however. Not sure if the messicans are rebuilding them or what.
BTW, how is the flea-mobile coming along? |

Cost $50 to have a set of 4 flow matched and cleaned.
I'd bet only $75 to have like new injectors for the six. I'd go that route myself. Then you can eliminate the injectors as a possible issue. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

| We need a 730 ecm/stock 305 prom to work with his 90s era wiring. So we're on hold for a bit at the moment. Turns out theres alot of wiring changes between 88 and 91. |

I went in to their store on 56th in Tacoma years ago (when the injectors went out in my IROC) and the guy told me it was $21 apiece just to take them apart and see if they were any good. I told him best of luck with that and bought a used set of LT1's for like $70.

Why not run the engine harness and ECM from the GTA and splice it into the chassis harness from the '91 where it needs it? |

| Yeah that's not bad at all. Especially if they have the flow sheets with them, letting me know that they are good. |

| I guess I'll call around to get estimates because I could go to one of several locations just as easy. |

Lance and I went to this one. It was the set of 4 injectors from his Talon.
271 Rainier Ave. N.
Renton, WA 98055
(425) 271-5522
sorry I was mistaken by the price. Just pulled the paper work. Came out to 100.74$ with tax for the 4.
$22 per injector - but that was take apart, clean, flow, etc.
I plan to take my set of 4 Mazda injectors there soon. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

| That sounds more on par with what I was told there, Paul. I think the total quote was around $200 with tax and whatever, and assuming no extra parts were needed. |

Even then, don't know where that guy was getting $200 from for a set of 6.
The guy in Renton was super nice and even spent extra time with us going over the flow sheet and stuff. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |
