|
|
In my infinite wisdom I ended up with extra pieces when I removed and aligned my deck lid.... which isn't always good.
Those stupid little plastic pieces on the sides of the glass where the deck lid mates to it, those are gone and now I'm having a slow build up of water, just damp carpet no mobile pool in the well or anything but that's the only thing I can think of causing it, new hatch seal and the pull down tracks have been welded so it quits moving around on me
Any input?? _________________ If you expect a kick to the balls and get a slap to the face its still a victory

Plastics wont cause water. Water comes from the seal, and through the bolt holes that bolt the glass to the hinge. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

I drove my camaro for months w/o the plastic in the hatch to look for a leak.
Mine was cause I "broke" the seal between the decklid and glass. Had to take it all apart, bolt it back together with a fat bead of silicone all the way across the whole thing. _________________ 2008 GMC Z71

Without those plastic tabs there can be a gap above the weather strips. This is especially an issue with old worn out weatherstrip as it tends to get a permanent deflection in those spots.
I think I have an extra set left over. I'll look when I get back to my shop at the end of the week. |

| Those plastics are I-shaped. They go up around the glass and get glued into the seam. |

those would be the ones, i pulled them and now theyre lost lol i think im gonna have to pop the decklid off again, run a thick bead across the front and then go around the bolt holes, i did like a criss cross before not even thinking but i mad sure to go from side to side in a consistent bead, i just did thin ones tho that obviously didnt seal all that well, for peace of mind idlike to put the plastic pieces back in and try resealing it, i know its not coming from my tail lights, not leaking under the new trunk seal, and the top of it is dry when i check it, my baffle board isnt getting wet either, its somehow going past it and down to the bottom, im assuming the little plastic rectangles as the culprit because water could easily drip along the inside of the panels and down if it is infact leaking there _________________ If you expect a kick to the balls and get a slap to the face its still a victory
