So my heater fuse randomly blew last spring and I never bothered replacing it. Every time I swap in a new one, the heater works until I turn the heat down. I have a 25 gauge fuse in there, this is correct gauge right?

And if that is the correct gauge, I just go hunting for a wire grounding out?

Gauge fuse? You mean amperage right? I beleiev 25 should do but if your blower motor is shorting the fuse then you need to break out a meter and get to probing for a short

Just a guess, since it goes when you turn the blower down. I would look at either the blower speed switch or the low speed resistor pack.

+1 if you had the leads touch itd cause an instant short, or go all or nothing on the blower as a band aid lol

I'm betting switch. Resistor coils are air-cooled in the HVAC box, switches overheat sitting on top of the stereo.
