I can't run C5 backspacing because I won't run spacers. Spacers are not allowed at the track either.

Adapters are fine at the track.

Spacers are not.

Been running the mazda with 1.25" adapters for what, 3 years now with several drag passes. No problems. And my Jeep has 1.25" adapters and no problems in 4 low!

I second that. Adapters are fine, and why wouldn't they be? Since they bolt on just think of it as an extension of the wheel as if it were a lower offset.

I just found these wheels from Forgestar on TGO. They look kind of cool actually. And more importantly I can get them in 19x9 & 19x11 in a multitude of offsets!

Jon, I like the C2K's from CCW, I like the flatter face on the spokes.

Ya, you're right. Now that I think about it more the flatter face is better with a 3rd gen.

Yes, I am resurrecting this thread. I've been looking at wheels, and looking.... and looking.... and looking.... Why is it so dang hard to find something that looks good AND made in my size?!?!

There seems to be a trap when looking at wheels in catalogs. And that is a good looking bare wheel doesn't necessarily look good after being wrapped in tires and placed on a car. And I have also noticed that 3rd gens can't handle too much bling or too nice of a wheel because the car isn't exotic enough to support it. The car is pure 1980's and the wheel cannot depart to far from that look or you start singing, "One of these things isn't like the other."

So I have figured out a few rules for me to play by. I don't like spindly modern wheels that are mostly air. I like a deep dished rim on my generation of car (it is '80s). And despite all the fancy stuff out there, all the expensive stuff, and all the custom stuff.... I seem to like Firehawk wheels. Shocked But those wheels will never fit over my brakes.

I have gotta figure out where to go from here.

I think its harder to pick something for a firebird too. Most 5 spoke stuff just says "camaro" when I see it. Alot of times I go back to the classic looks from year one in modern sizes.

Firehawks are 17x9.5 Ronals... How big are your brakes?

Five years ago in this very thread I said that was the wheel you should go with and I stand by it.

Yes, it turns out Aaron has style. I Don't Get It

The Firehawks have very little clearance for brakes around the barrel. The stock 12" Brembo's barely fit. I don't even think LS1 brakes fit, let alone C6 brakes I have.

Do you still have a line on your custom wheel guy? Talk him into knocking the Ronals off but with a milled-out barrel for a street application.

Yes, I do, and I am considering that. I would have to do painted inserts too because as weird as it sounds, the bare metal wheels just don't look right. I would have them painted locally though so I can really control the final outcome.

What is your budget? Forgeline S03 is a classic design, it would do great on your car, and forgeline will build it out to whatever specs you want.

I don't have a budget, I just make judgement calls. There is a difference. It is my judgement that no set of wheels for my car is worth $6K. Laughing

I like the lip and the overall spoke look isn't bad, but those are some god-awful rivets... well those and the price.

That's some solid judgement, I'd say. Laughing

CTW Motorsports, only one size (17 X 9.5), one style and come painted satin black or silver. They fit over most , if not all the big brake upgrades.. I chose the black ones for my car. Since they're painted, it's not much problem to have them media blasted and powder coated to your liking.

I know those wheels are very light and functional but I have never liked the looks of them, especially on a Firebird. And they don't fit my car anyway (too little backspacing).
