Ian, you have style. Pick the top 3 of what would look good on a Firebird. I know you have some pictures hidden away somewhere too!

I'm not liking the same front/rear wheel thing. I'm thinking the front has to be 1" smaller diameter than the back to look right. Thinking 17" front and 18" back. What do you think?

Nobody would have noticed if you didn't point it out.

Is that another insult? I don't know. Very Happy

Oh I fully agree with you that the rest of us have no style, and that I notice far too many minor things for my own good.

If you were curious about what my style-less self thinks about rims for a bright red Birdie, well that list begins and ends right here, with the Firehawk:

Hey John, find that picture of your TA when you first bought it! Those were some bad wheels. Laughing

I got the stockers with it too. I hated those aftermarket wheels!

Sorry guys, but I have a very specific agenda. CCW wheels only. I can find the other stuff no problem all over TGO. It's hard to find CCW pictures on 3rd gens.

  • The Classics look good but they are a bit busy and bulky around the outer edges. Not a fan of the studs but in this case they are actually functional and real.
  • LM20 is a little less bulky than the Classic and seems a little better look.
  • SP18 and SP20 are looking good. No wheel studs and smooth. I'd like to see it on a 3rd gen. I like the slight convex curves on the spokes.
  • C2K is similar but flat faced spokes. Not feeling the flat face. I like the curves better on the wheels above.

Honestly Jon, I haven't payed much attention to CCW in awhile. It's hard to find any of their wheels in both a 19x11 and 19x9.5 size. In the sizes you're looking for about my favorite wheel has always been the fikse FM10.

A CCW version would be the SP20 which looks amazing. When I was at the chev dealer we had a black c5 Z06 come in with gunmetal C14s which have a similar style but the "center cap area" of the wheel is set it even with low offset wheels. In pictures I never thought this looked good but in person it was absolute amazing how much "meat" it gave the car. It just made the car have massive presence. I would love to see both the SP16a and SP600 on a thirdgen just to see something different but I doubt they'd look good. I think I'm going with the caddy ctsV wheel for my next ones.

IF I can find them in gunmetal...

Let's talk about finishes...

Chrome seems too bright. I like the clear anodized with the polished lips. What do you think of the hypersilver painted? Seems that would look good on a bright red car.

Basic grey and silver seems too overdone (like the BMW colors). Every car in the world has it now.

The hypersilver looks like it could be lost in a sea of regular silver cars/wheels on a bright day. I would probably venture towards hyperblack but that's because I like the darker end of the spectrum when it comes to wheels. Never a fan of complete black but the competition grey and hyperblack intrigue me.

I think black chrome looks really good.

Ian... stay with the Vette stuff, just go ZR1 wheels. Leave the Cad parts to those of us with some class that drive Camaro's. Wink (why do we always have the same plans for things?!?)

Jon, I like the C2K's from CCW, I like the flatter face on the spokes. But then again, what do I know, I don't have style like Ian.

Laughing ZR1 stuff is too big. I don't think I'd like 20s on my car and 20x13? is too wide without mini-tubbing/body surgery.

I think we chatted about this at dyno when Steve had the customer ctsV there. I'm beginning to like the ctsV brakes (the next gen from yours) and ctsV wheels. It's either those or Volk TE37/Rota Grids for my next wheels. Very Happy

Those might look good on a red car!... Although there may be too many spokes for a 17" without looking too busy. Do you have pictures?
