GM finally got their $hit together ( to bad Good Year, make a better tire) and offered tires on the car that there direct competitior have offered for a decade. Wonder what the Z06 would run on the Ring with those tires?

No doubt the Z06 is the super car destroyer. Most modded cars are measured against it.

11.9 @122? That's kind of a pathetic time for a stock C6 Z06 in all honesty. those things are low 11 cars all day long.

122 mph is the number you want to focus on. That is quick. That is enough power for low 11's or high 10's. The slower time is caused by factory tires that are made to corner.

If you can run 11.9 quarter mile from a stop light then you own almost every car on the street.

They ran that quarter mile number on an air feild. No burnout box, track prep etc. You can see the dust being kicked up at launch and at 1/8th mile.

The largest improvement in the car over the last 4 years has been the tires. Not that GM hasnt been spoon feeding in more improvements and options, but the largest difference maker has been the tires. Porsche has offered (and most Porsches have been delivered to rags for testing have been equipped with) those same tires.

This is the latest video at the wholey grail for performance cars. The tires are the main difference. http://carscoop.blogspot.com/2011/06/2012-corvette-z06-smashes-previous.html

22 seconds faster than the last model they tested, same non pro driver Jim Moreno. The guy is a GM engineer for Corvette.

My brother had an encounter with a stock 2009 ish Z06 with his GTO last week. He said he put about 4 car lengths on it from a 40 MPH roll to 130. My brothers car has a 402 CID alluminum blocked LS2 with comp ported LS3 heads, 240ish duration cam, headers, no cats, barely muffled, 3500 stall, Ellis Groo built 4L65E transmission, geared, carbon fiber one peice driveshaft, after market diff, axels, drag bagged, solid bushing suspended, lightend 05 GTO. His car should be good for low 11's - high tens if it hooks.

He was stoked to pull the stock Z06 on the top end. If the race coninued he would have run out of gears. He said he got most of the lengths from 40 - 100.

Z06's are no joke.

Believe me I understand that, but even the mph should be around 124. ZO6's on the stock run flats are capable of low 11's
