| I want my tires to be almost flush with my fenders, and lowering springs don't lower it enough. What do you guys think I should do for like $200. I've heard mixed things about cut springs |

| The problem with cutting the soft base model springs is that they're squishy. That said, it's free to try. |

The last thing you want to do is take a lowering spring and cut it. The ride will chatter your teeth.
Honestly, do you realize how low you're talking about? There isn't a single driveway entrance in town you won't scrape. |

Hehe. I daily'd my IROC with Eibach Pro Kit springs in Tacoma for years, Jon. Tell me about rattled teeth.
I just figured he was related to RSFreak with wanting to be Cholo-low. |

| For $200, you don't have really any options. When you go that low, be prepared to cut bumb-stops and such. Mine and Iansane both have cars about that low, but it took a hair more than just cutting springs to get there. |

| Used suspensions don't go for a lot. I picked up Moroso drag springs for $40 the other day. |

| I've heard that cutting aftermarket stock ride height springs is the best way to go as long as I relocate my lower control arms. I don't need my car to be super low but the eibachs only lower the car 1 and 1/4 inch and I want about twice that |

I had some springs that were 1.75+ drop. I couldnt get the car to go anywhere, and the tires rubbed a hole in the front fender liner. The rears rubbed the fenderwell every time I hit a bump. Never mind the exhaust I dented up in the process.
If you want to go that low, you need some STIFF springs, and some damn expensive shocks to go with them. |

I will expand on the mods necessary to go low low low.
My car is also recently lowered almost to the level of these guys, but without the supporting mods that they have done yet. I absolutely love the looks. Frankly, my car now sucks to drive. I am going to be doing several things in the very near future to correct this:
I've only put a couple hundred miles on this setup, and I have fairly fresh OEM style struts. They are now very weak, and don't have the stiffness to properly control my springs. I will be replacing them with Koni Yellows at about $270 per side. The rear shocks are having the same issues, also replaced with Koni Yellows soon at about $130 per side. I am also buying caster/camber plates at about $170/pair to gain a little strut length and adjustment. You will also need an adjustable panhard bar, for about $90. You will need LCA relocation brackets for about another $70. It would probably be a good idea to go DelAlum or Poly on all your bushings since you're in there and stock bushings will be falling apart by now. Then we move onto the free mods. Cut/remove your bumpstops or you will hit them hard all the time. Cut/trim/remove your fender liners, because you will rub or break them. You may or may not need to roll and pull your fenders, depending on your wheel choice.
Whew, so your "free" spring cutting then leads to over $1000 worth of mods required just to make your car ride and handle well after you are done. If you buy Ground Control Weight Jacks and do it the non-cutting way, you are in the same boat on mods but also spend an extra $500 on top of that.
Bottom line? Unless you absolutely love the look of a lowered thirdgen (and plan to keep your car forever), it's not worth it. Stick with your lowering springs. Is an extra 1.5" worth the inconvenience and money?
Comedy option: Cut the hell out of those springs, do no supporting mods, drive a lowered car that rides like crap. Don't listen to the haters. _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

Far be it from me to ever be the voice of reason and civility on this forum, but lets back up a bit.
When you guy's were his age you owned some base-model V6 piece of crap and you did stupid stuff to it in the name of being "cool." Then it got sold down the road, or scrapped, or wrecked or whatever and you bought a much better car and tooled around with it. Then you tore that much better car apart, formulated a plan, bought a bunch of speed parts. Then real life happened, and you bought a normal car for getting to work, and now your cool thing just sits.
Such is the way with guys like us. All of us. It's how it goes.
I say he should cut the stock springs till he's happy with it. And if he cuts too much he can go to a wrecking yard and get some Z28 springs. As long as he does it right, uses a safety chain, ect. he's not going to hurt anything or himself. |

When I was his age I bought a full suspension and did it right. I never sold my car. I jacked it up good though. |

I damn near severed two of my fingers trying to swap out the springs on my first car, a 73 camaro. I bought a cheap set of lowering srings. Still dont have feeling in them. Buy the right parts FTMFW. If you must fill the wheel well, go with lowering springs and these - http://audiocitywheels.com/view_product.php?itemno=T24IROC0092
Atleast you replace the rims when you realize the fad has passed. |

You're surprisingly accurate there.
Maybe we were getting a little hard on him. He should know it'll ride like crap if he gets it as low as he wants it though. What better way to learn than by experience? Instead of a bunch of old farts* telling him what to do.

| Well for the cost of it I think ill just stay at stock ride height. I would get eibachs but it wouldn't lower my car any since its not a V8. Oh well |
