What is everybody running? What are you guys satisfied with performance wise, that's good quality and going to hold up? I'm willing to save and buy expensive ones, but if the cheaper ones such as hookers work fine I'd rather go with those but I'm looking for some experienced input, I don't want them to rust and be full of pinholes.
Running a 91' L98 350 with the factory dual cat option, so i'm going with shorties to make the bend to the passenger side easier, no AIR, but I need 02 sensor friendly headers
Thanks!
Ryan S

Got my uncoated Hedmans used in 01 and they're still on the car. I did coat them with VHT when I first got them. While they are rusty, they arent rusted through. I did have to replace the Y pipe this year though.

The coated version should hold up better.

I've played with Hedman, Edelbrock, Hooker, Flowtech.

Hedman/Hooker are about a wash for the #1 spot.
#3 Flowtech
#4 Edelbrock

Absolutely hate the edelbrocks. Fitment sucks, plugs are harder to get to, everything about them compared to Hedman and Hooker is lesser.

i got the uncoated shorty hedmans from summit for like 150. Great header for the money in my opinion.

Alright then, sounds like I'm going with Hedman or Hooker, do they both require no modification?

All of them require a little "work" to get the A/C to fit.

I know it's a bit different animal but I put used LT hedmans on the bird and drove ~60k with them. No issues. I can't remember who I gave them to... Gabe? John?

You gave them to me, and they were no go with my T5 so I gave them to another friend.

I vote Hooker, had them for 4 years no complaints. Also because they have a ball and socket flange with the y-pipe (not sure about headmans?) you can install them on the car for a bit, then pull the y-pipe off and using the soot ring cut the ball part open more. I got over 3/4" when I widened mine. Made a difference too.

Really? What was the fit issue, the slave cylinder?

Hedmans have gone to the ball and socket too.

Be careful with both sets, not to over tighten the bolts. I kinda don't like this setup. When I do an exhaust I cut those off and use a good thick 3 bolt flange and good gaskets.

The collector was pointed directly at the slave cylinder, and about a half inch away... There was no getting around that. Razz

Mine were on the t56, so the slave was pointed the other direction. Very Happy

have had my hedmans on since 2001 and they have been great, . get a set for an 85 so ya dont have to have all the AIR crap on them. the O2 bung does work but it is slightly lower then the oem position in the manifolds, i did experience a bit of an idle issue from it( atleast thats what we tracked it back to). but its not the case with all of them.

anyone running a set of 1 3/4 on there car on here? not sure of the best make for the larger size.

I have the regular black 2055 hookers on my 305, no rust, decent fitment, I still have A/C. Just recently cut the AIR tubes off, you'll want to get rid of them, makes plug access alot better. lol

I have edelbrocks that I bought off someone on here. I can see why they got rid of them, they suck ass.

I'm trying to get myself to cough up the cash for some dyno-dons.

I have the Edelbrock shorties and Y-pipe. Don't get them. They started getting surface rust within a week (while Dereks 2055's still have the black paint on them), and the collectors and y-pipe merge are a complete joke.
