does this vacuum reading seem weird, it kinda bounces around, I can't remember if it did that the last time I hooked up the gauge.

also does this seem like alot of water to come out the exhaust?

it was only idling for like 15-20 minutes, I drove it around before this, water temp was 185-190

Water in the exhaust is just condensation. Coolant in the exhaust is what you want to watch out for. If you're not sure, smell or taste it.

Don't be afraid. What don't kill ya will only make ya stronger, right? Laughing

Bouncing vacuum gauge at idle means a vacuum leak, a misfire, a valve event not happening correctly (overtightened valve lash keeping a valve open) or possibly low compression in a cylinder. Basically, it's just not firing with equal strength all the time. Smile I've seen that happen from a very badly adjusted idle circuit on a carb as well, either far too rich or far too lean.

weird.

I've been having weird intermittent idle problems in spite of new plugs/wires, and checked the oil, popped both valve covers and made sure I checked lash correctly. nothing seems amiss.

The strangest thing is, it will idle fine, but it has this weird dip in idle for a couple seconds, then, its back to normal. when I step out of the car, take the air element off, and plug the air bleeds on the pass side, it idles right, and there's never a dip, even after 3-4 minutes of doing that.

I sure hope I'm not dealing with the valvespring problem that Brandon has been fighting. my cam does have kind of a soft ramp rate so I'm rather doubtful it's that.

I'm choosing to blame the main body of my carb. Baseplate was warped and replaced before I ran it (after a good clean-up) so who knows what the hell happened before that.
