I think it would look goofy to have a narrow tire on a rim sitting so far out. Why not just get different rims with proper back spacing?
I have 17x9 rims with 275/40-17 tires. They look small on the car. There is room for more.
I have 18x10.5 rims on the 4th gen. I'd bet those fit just fine on my 3rd gen with proper back spacing. 11 inch wide rims are where people starting running into problems rubbing. |

You'll probably just have to mount one up and try it. Would probably be easiest. I run a 19x10 + 295. _________________

| 265/40 might be a bit much on an 8", I have 255/45's on my 8.5", and i wouldn't want to go much wider on my wheels. |

I would like to run a wider rim, just ran out of fun tickets. I picked up the SLP rims cheap and like the way they look, phantom black and all. Not a big deal, a wider tire would be for apearence only.
Those tires are as close as you can get to an all out autocross tire but street legal. My brother swears by them. He was still pulling 1.8x 60' times with a shot posi in his GTO on the same tires or rather tire. |
