My brother has been running these on his GTO for the last couple of years.

tireshttp://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSearchResults.jsp?width=265%2F&ratio=40&diameter=17&startIndex=0&search=true&pagelen=20&pagenum=1&pagemark=1&manufacturer=Dunlop&x=7&y=9

He loaned me one to see if it will fit in the wheel well, which it does but without having it mounted on the rim I cant be positive. The rims they would be going on are SLP knock off ZR-1 17" x 8". They dont have the same back spacing as the stock rims, they are offset further out about 3/4" I dont drive my car in the rain and am sold on how well they hook, just not sure if a 265 will fit. I would go with a 245 in the front.

Anyone running the same rims and a 265/40/17 tire?

Link doesn't work, try it this way instead..

I've been told I can put a 265 width on my 17 X 8.5 wheels, but not much more. Offset on my wheels is 26mm.

I think it would look goofy to have a narrow tire on a rim sitting so far out. Why not just get different rims with proper back spacing?

I have 17x9 rims with 275/40-17 tires. They look small on the car. There is room for more.

I have 18x10.5 rims on the 4th gen. I'd bet those fit just fine on my 3rd gen with proper back spacing. 11 inch wide rims are where people starting running into problems rubbing.

You'll probably just have to mount one up and try it. Would probably be easiest. I run a 19x10 + 295.

265 on a 8" looks funny. Stay 245 all around or get a bigger rim.

265/40 might be a bit much on an 8", I have 255/45's on my 8.5", and i wouldn't want to go much wider on my wheels.

I would like to run a wider rim, just ran out of fun tickets. I picked up the SLP rims cheap and like the way they look, phantom black and all. Not a big deal, a wider tire would be for apearence only.
Those tires are as close as you can get to an all out autocross tire but street legal. My brother swears by them. He was still pulling 1.8x 60' times with a shot posi in his GTO on the same tires or rather tire.
