Ugly Chevy ruined this shot
Yeah, definitely familiar
Somehow I think that these:
...will work a little better than these ones did:
...and certainly better than these craptacular ones:
Truck has TONS more power now, and idles smooth as butter. Was starting to think I had a 4cyl diesel in it or something with the terrible idle it had. Should get better mileage too. I was consistently below 12mpg with the "new" junkyard injectors.
Cranked the injection pump around just a bit for a degree or so more timing, and that pepped it up even more. I might try for another degree or two, but that damn spiderweb of pipes is hard to move. |

Jay you got a 6.5, right?
If so, I think you need to get a Ford for it, not new injectors. |

I would take a 6.5 chebby over a 5.9 crummins anyday, my buddy has an 01 dodge and I can't stand the droning noise that they make at every RPM. |

| This must be the time to tear into Furds. I broke a valvespring in my new to me 93 last month. Still ran, just made horrible sounds over 1200 rpm. Would have still been driving it on 7 cylinders had I not dropped the valve into the cylinder while diagnosing. This week I am swapping in a known good 6.9 and putting the injection pump, injectors, and turbo off the 7.3 onto it. |

| Damn glad I over built my engine stand years ago, these things are freakin heavy. Had to switch oil pans since the new engine got handled kinda rough. Actually the last time it was on the road a friend of mine rolled the pickup into a ditch. When he reached up and turned the key off he screwed up his spinal cord and paralysed himself from the neck down. Pretty much a bad way to end up for life. |

| I didn't know if I could pick the engine up high enough to remove so I took the front of the pickup apart instead. Only takes a couple hours and makes everything so much easier. I highly recomend. |

Better to come out forward rather than up. I've pulled off several front clips to facilitate engine and trans removal.
Valve spring failure on the IDI's seems to be pretty prevalent. The guy I bought those injectors from told me he was at a local yard and four of the five IDI rigs had dropped valves.
BTW, what's the story on the new rig, Rod? |

I picked it up this winter to put my service box on. 93 F250, loaded xlt, 5 spd, turbo IDI, for $1000. Buy of the year, until it broke down. |

I'll say. Even with the cost of the 6.9 you're still doing fine. |

6.9 is a freebee my dad has been hanging on to. Not sure what he has into it, but thats kinda the way it works. He buys something and stores it, then I come along and barrow it from him. |

I get to swap engines this week. A 3000LB + Cummin's 15L. Yay.
Our forklift doesn't have the counterbalance for it lengthed out to pull it out of the chassis. I'll take pictures. This should get interesting.
Much rather pull a little truck motor lol. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

I'm guessing no overhead hoist, or the cab is in the way to use an overhead? |

Funny how pics of broken Fords usually have the bumper of a chevy along with a chain or strap in them
How many miles do that " superior" Ford engine have on it? |

No Ford engines here, Dave. You're thinking of the 6.4L modern stuff. |

Heh overhead slides the width of the truck, and the cab covers half the motor. Motor comes out the front, not up. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |
