I think the rpm ranges are mainly for carbs. A dual plane intake increases the vacuum signal to each side of a carb. A single plane draws from the whole carb at once. So each cylinder can actually draw from all 4 barrels, instead of just 2. None of this really matters with TBI. |

Yeah, it doesn't have the same effect on TBI. Since TBI doesn't need a vacuum signal, just a total vacuum reading, it won't effect the TBI at low RPM's like a carb.
The other advantage, is that single planes have a much larger plenum volume than dual planes. In EFI motors, plenum volume is something you want. |

Cool, thats good to know. So no downside there? Just moves the torque curve higher? _________________

it won't really shift it much, it will just not limit it as much. The real factor in the torque curve is the cam. |

Nice! Thats why I bring my questions here!
One more, should I start finding a way around emissions, or will it still be possible to de-tune it enough to run thru Oregon DEQ? |

With a cat, and everything working, it should be able to clear. |

Those people hate me. Don't even let me be in the same zip code when you go to DEQ. |

Ha ok I'll keep that in mind. I have a hallowed out cat right now, I managed to pass last time by bumping up the idle and turning the timing way down. The guy got all mad at me because my air/fuel gauge didn't stay at 14.7 the whole time. so i'll just cover it this time around.
Also I been talking to everyone I know who has built a smallblock and they keep saying i'll be disappointed if I go with a cam this small... course there running carbs and they aren't daily drivers, but this should be a pretty big upgrade right? |

Well, when my motor was healthier, it put down 224hp to the wheels. So, that gives you an idea of what it might do. With just the cam, and stock heads, it was about 215hp. So it is a good 40-50hp gain at the wheels over a stock LO3. |

225hp. You were one hp below me and I think I put down 226. _________________

Are they used to 350's?
Put a cam in a 305 it acts one way, put the same one in a 350 it acts smaller.
Vise versa. A small cam in a 350 will act like a bigger cam in a 305. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

Thats what I was thinking... Yeah they had more cubes, one guy had a 355 and the other guy had a 400. They both think I'll be disappointed with the 211/219 cam |

I have NOT had good luck with their springs. I've broken 7 or 8 of them in my truck over a 3 year period. Last year I bought a set of summit branded springs that are spec'd similarly. So far so good. Since summit owns trick flow.. i think they're probably trickflow springs(which will actually be made by someone else yet LOL) |
So looks like Lunati recommends these springs.. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/LUN-73943LUN/
So I wanna find some equivalant in another brand, but im having trouble... _________________

You need to know how far below the deck surface your pistons are at TDC. That number + the gasket thickness needs to add up as close to 0.040 as you can get it. |

If it is a stock motor, chances are it is 0.025 down. So the .018 stock replacement gaskets are about right.
But, it never hurts to check. |

Get the Felpro steel shim. I forget the part number it's like 1004 or something. It's a rubberized coated metal gasket. Then use copper coat on both sides of the gasket.
It's .015 which works perfect with typical stock .015 and they're readily available. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |
