You can also use the 3.23 carrier since it's 3-series as well. If you haven't bought the gears yet, they do make high ratio 3.42, 3.73, 4.10 gears that will fit on a 2-series carrier if that's all you can find.
I got a 3-series Torsen just the other day for $100 shipped with less than 50k on it. I was told and have heard from others that a Torsen is not great for drag racing since it's a torque biasing differential, but if you want to do autocross and road race type stuff with them, they're great. _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

I had a Zexel and tried to autocross with it. In a tight corner with race tires on it was as bad as an open diff. When you unload the inside tire the Zexel won't lock up.
Get an Eaton if you want to turn corners. That's what I have now. _________________ Member of the "Elite T56 Club" , big brake club, and "burgundy" (not red or maroon) car owner.

| Well thats a bummer then.. I want to drag and autocross a little, but sounds like its not a very good diff for them. Crap. I just wanted something stronger than whats in it now. But I can't afford an Eaton or any aftermarket 400 dollar diff. Even used their expensive. |

If you already have a good working Auburn, don't sweat it. The Torsen is a downgrade in some ways, but an upgrade in others.
The part of the diff that breaks is almost never the carrier anyway, so strength is a moot point when deciding between the two.
I'm going for the Torsen because I want a fun driver's car, drag times and racing isn't that important to me. I don't want to replace my toasted Auburn with another Auburn that'll just burn up in another few years (I drive my car hard), and I can't justify the price increase for an Eaton. Do what you want to do! _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56
