ARGGGGGGGGG. just deleted my whole post. Grr compute...sdswify

K.
Anyone changed out their sagging headliners on here? No surprise my headliner is sagging.... actually been doing it for a while.

I know all about the scraping of the glue, etc, no worries about getting it out the the old stuff off. But I wanted to know how you recovered it.
Did you use OEM headliner?

I have a really good deal on some suede in black, and I wanted to use that but its really thin fabric. So I was considering putting foam behind it first but the thinest I can find is 1/2 inch, and I think thats overkill. There is also some cotton batton which would be identical to the OEM foam thickness, but didnt know if anyone has tried a backing then the fabric? Instead of foambacked fabrics.

I am making my T-Top shades at the same time, so I kinda want to do it all so the fabric matches.

I cant really see any issues so long as |I make sure everything is glued on well, so it doesnt fall down asap. think i'm missing something?

If not, I go tomorrow to give her a go.

Get one of the ABS plastic ones. Think a few of us have gotten them from ebay.

Did the same with mine, but mine's still holding 3 years later. Used 2 whole spray cans of 3M Carpet Adhesive.

I broke the white clip on the pillar cover too. I saw that either Hawks or Year One sells new clips. Can't remember which right now.

I looked through fabrics at a fabric store but didn't see anything suitable for headliner. Apparently they don't carry anything like that. Where do the upholstery shops get their supplies?

I'm probably just going to hand my headliner to a shop. They will give it back to me finished for $80. Hardly worth the effort to do myself for that money.

I've got one of the fiberglass ones in my car. T-Top.

The back of it went in just fine. It was the front driver side corner that messed with me. Had to make a shim and glue it in.

I tried reglueing mine several times. It always came back down. The last time the glue I tried bled through the fabric. So out it came. Put in the ABS headliner 10 years ago. It's awesome!

abs chunks plus acetona in a jar will create melted abs plastic..

apply it to selected areas and it will melt/glue itself right into the abs piller piece.

I took mine out after the fiber board material started crumbling. Haven't replaced it yet, but it will be ABS when I do Cool

Reused the original board cause it was in good shape Smile
Got some industral glue from my supplier at work, and bought some vinyl leather look material for 25 bucks.

This is my final result, what ya think?

PS still need to cut the holes for the sun visors, but other then that its done
