So since work ordered me a new pc, I ordered almost the same setup at the house cause we got a discout.
I was wanting to get a 2gig video card at home but I cant seem to find very many. But I am seeing this SLI setup. So I have questions on that.
1. Do I have to run special softwear that may slow the rest of the pc down?
2. Do I have to have 2 of the exact same video cards?
Anything else I am not aware of? _________________ 2008 GMC Z71

There is no special software for a SLI setup other than Nvidia drivers. I run SLI on my computer now with two XFX GTX 260's. May i ask what you need 2 gigs of ram on your video cards for?
With SLI you need to run two of the same cards in the same series. I.e; you can run a MSI GTX 460 and a XFX GTX 460. As long as they are in the same family. But you can also run 2 different cards in non sli to do two different monitors. It all depends on what your trying to acheive here.
I run a 24" monitor at 1920X1080 with 2 cards and i can game heavily with the newest titles and be fine. I also run a lot of SolidWorks 2009 on my computer without a hitch
Most of the time its actually better to run 1 of he best or better cards out there. Pm me if you have any more questions. |

I have a 36" monitor and have been doing alot of video stuff, as well my normal image editing.
I am not sure if a 1gig card will cut it as whatever I have now isnt. |
