So some of you may remember I was rebuilding a Dodge Intrepid to give to a close female friend of mine. I call her "my daughter".
Well after 2 months of motor work. Drove it 160miles to blow the tranny. That guy having it almost 3 weeks. Then a few weeks of driving it myself to trouble shoot it. I finally delivered it this past weekend to her.
She knew I was coming down, but due to the weather that was drifting in, I headed out almost 20hrs early w/o her knowledge. Met her at work to take her home. I never knew a 100lb girl could burn rubber on her shoes, make hair fly strait across, and run into you so hard you take a step back. Then squeeze to the point of not moving. But I think it was worth it.
Drove it around all weekend using a full tank of gas w/o it missing a beat. She also learned how to check fluids, change a spare, and replace blown lights.
Here she is driving me to dinner (payment for the car)
Posing for the "first car" picture
Atleast I can say that project is out the door, FINALLY!!!! _________________ 2008 GMC Z71

Was interesting to see the trials you went through to get that MOPAR on the road. Good job, glad it's finally done. Just keep on her about maintaining it and it won't deteriorate.

I know what Karma is, just never heard it in "points".
Ian, agree! I'm sure it has a small oil leak, so asked her to check oil n coolant weekly. Then check the others monthly. I showed her how to do this on her moms car the last time I got to see her. This time I popped the hood and said check-em. She went strait for the oil and did it right the first time. I was She even said if she comes up here for spring break, she wants me to show her how to change the oil
Was quite a chore and ended up being ALOT more work n effort. But promise is a promise. I just hope she takes care of it, and drives it safely. I'm going to be upset if she hurts herself in it, or hurts someone else. |
