'Cause your friendly local mountain man's are gone!
At first I figured it was an off-road casualty since that's when it blew out, but judging by the rust in the cap I'm leaning towards lack of lubrication.
I will say that I have owned this Ford since March, and this is the first thing that's broken. Which is an incredible record for me. |

Good job on lubing chassis/driveline points regularly. _________________

That was even a greaseable joint!
I just changed a similar looking one in a vette half shaft friday. Which is scary, cause the half shafts are what hold the wheel up on a vette. |

That's much better. Greased the slip-joint and replaced the rear u-joint while I was in there. Still getting driveline vibration from somewhere, though.

Funny thing was, when I bought that truck I immediately went through and greased all the zerks I could find... except I forgot about the ones in the rear driveline.
The truck did alright as a FWD on the commute today. Lotta torque steer though. |
