For the last few month I've really quieted down on the Crew site and progress on the Camaro has almost come to a stand still. Mostly due to the fact that I've been spending all my time and resources on my newest car. A Montana Green '92 VW GTI. It's totally against anything I've owned before and will definitely get hated on by probably 99% of you guys. In fact I hated Volkswagens with a passion until I came across this car. I'll start off with a list of some of the mods...
'92 Volkswagen Golf GTI 115,400mi
'93 12v 2.8 VR6 from passat 40k mi
O2J EGF 5 speed from '02 GTI
FK highsport coilovers
Euro tail lights
Mk3 rear beam (12mm wider per side)
93 Passat radiator crossmember and front engine mount
mk3 full front subframe, A-arms, power steering rack, tie rods, 5x100 hubs (17mm wider per side)
G60 front fender flares
G60 strut mounts
Corvette salad shooters (16x8.5 +32)
3/4" (20mm) adapters
10 mm spacers up front
GM 6 cylinder coilpack conversion
Techtonics Tuning chip
Techtonics Tuning exhaust
G60 front strut bushings
Poly rear strut bushings
Corrado master cylinder
-Zimmerman 12" front, 11" front and rear drilled brake rotors
-mk3 calipers with ceramic brake pads
-mk3 silver faced vr6 dash cluster
-R32 poly subframe bushings, sway bar bushings ,control arm bushings and power steering rack bushings
-5 lug swapped
-mono front wiper
-"lay flat" rear wiper
-crystal smoke 7" round E-codes
-6K bixenon HID's
GLI front door cards
Eurosport rear strut tower brace
Mirror polished and shaved intake manifold
PBR tap handle shift knob
Quiafe LSD
I have a few more plans for it as well, I have a ported head and I'm still deciding whether I'm going to go forced induction, or build the engine N/A. I have another set of wheels that I'm going to put on, I'm going to do some more fender rolling/pulling/trimming and lower the rear some more, go with solid motor mounts, redo the exhaust with a borla muffler, shave the engine bay and do a wire tuck, and find some Recaro seats.
Stay tuned for some pics... _________________ Richmond 3.73 posi| 36/24 sway bars | SLP LM2 | Koni's | Ground Control 800/200 | Y2K wheels | Dyno Don headers & Y-pipe | airfoil | BBK underdrive pulleys | Raised strut mounts | Extended ball joints | LCARB'S

I actually did pick it up from a Vortex member who is coincidentally one of my coworkers. And yes, FWD blows.

Ahh, I didnt even notice the wheels. While just kidding with ya, that type of cars never been my style at all. So dont usually pay much attention. However, I do like to see what real car guys do, regardless of the canvas. Even a chevette... |

Nice looking VW, looks like a nice project.
I gotta nit-pick now It looks to me that the front wheel on the wrong side. I'll take a gander and guess the other side is mismatched similarly with the directional vanes
I used to have a set of directional wheels on a Cutlass years ago, occasionally a garage would get two wrong and just looked funny to me, I'd have to tell them to fix it and swap sides with 2 wheels before picking the car up. _________________ 92 Camaro

Yeah the 12v has a pretty poor head design which severely limits how far you can go Naturally Aspirated. But on the other hand I have an OBD1 engine, which are not very boost friendly. There are only a few chips out there for boosted applications and they all are tuned for very low boost and tiny injectors. I would tune it myself but there is ZERO support for OBD1 DIY. If I wanted to switch to OBD2 I'd need a new ECU, engine harness, and an OBD2 intake manifold. _________________ Richmond 3.73 posi| 36/24 sway bars | SLP LM2 | Koni's | Ground Control 800/200 | Y2K wheels | Dyno Don headers & Y-pipe | airfoil | BBK underdrive pulleys | Raised strut mounts | Extended ball joints | LCARB'S

How hard is that gonna be? It's a four-banger, the intake manifold and harness are right there. |

Hey Aaron, do me a favor and count the number of runners on the intake. well the issue would be just sourcing the individual parts and the extra money for them. These VW people tend to sell the engine, harness ECU as a unit and don't take kindly to selling individual engine components. I've been looking for a few months now already with no luck yet. _________________ Richmond 3.73 posi| 36/24 sway bars | SLP LM2 | Koni's | Ground Control 800/200 | Y2K wheels | Dyno Don headers & Y-pipe | airfoil | BBK underdrive pulleys | Raised strut mounts | Extended ball joints | LCARB'S

I like! Well, aside from the shocker sticker.
While my car was down for the motor swap I borrowed a friends 92 16v gti for awhile. Lowered just a bit on some 16x8s and it was a fun little toy. I can't imagine it with VRT or something! |

I've driven a friends supercharged GTI that's at about 300hp. It got me hooked, it also took the fun away from driving my car, I need more power. He's actually rebuilding his engine soon this winter to go turbo with a goal of 500hp. I was thinking about picking up his supercharger setup.
Aaron: Don't worry, it's going lower soon enough. 1.5" off the ground is too much
Al: actually the front wheels are facing the right direction. It's thr rears that need to swap sides. Soon I'm getting some new tires for the rear (Falken Ziex 512's) because I don't like the way the Raptors stretch. _________________ Richmond 3.73 posi| 36/24 sway bars | SLP LM2 | Koni's | Ground Control 800/200 | Y2K wheels | Dyno Don headers & Y-pipe | airfoil | BBK underdrive pulleys | Raised strut mounts | Extended ball joints | LCARB'S

Not saying you're wrong because I don't really know myself, but this Corvette has them this way The directional AR wheels I had on my Cutlass were marked on the back side as to which side they belonged on.
