I've been really busy recently, but I figured I'd pop in and say hello.
Life is going good over here, just got a promotion and a hefty raise to go along with it. I'm enjoying my life up here in yuppie-ville still, but I've put over 6000 miles on my daily driver in the last 2.5 months. Lots of driving, seeing as my girlfriend is over in Ellensburg and my family is down in Chehalis.
So, the main event. This is what I presume you all clicked my thread for.
I spent last weekend in Chehalis with my family, and drove my little bro's Trans Am all around town. Some of you may remember, this is the car that I bought for a $500 parts car and then gave to my brother for his first car. My brother and my dad have less than $1200 into it including my original purchase price, dad's paintjob, and getting it running again after I yanked all the fuel injection stuff out of it. He turns 16 in January, and he'll have the coolest car in school. The new paintjob has a little bit of orange peel under the clearcoat, Dad didn't stop to colersand before the clear this time, but it still looks pretty decent. Doesn't need to be perfect for a first car.
It is now: Carbureted 305, 700R4, 2.73 posi, WS7 package. Used to be TPI.
Here's a little before pic:
And a few after pics. Here's the link to the entire album:

I think it does look pretty sexy without the spoiler. It makes the car look very smooth.
And I'll always be a Camaro man, but damn if those gauges aren't totally slick at night. _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

So you see how I have cleverly taken a Camaro, removed the spoiler, and put Trans Am gauges in it! I'm a genius! Or rather I will be a genius... eventually... |

Sweet! The 305 - 700R4 - 2.73 combo probably doesn't exactly tear up the streets though! _________________ '86 Trans Am - 5.0L TPI - LT1 cam - 700R4 - WS6

16 year old boys don't need to tear up the streets, right?
It is a really nice cruiser however. Smooth, sounds good, turns 1700 RPM at 70.
Aaron, I didn't know you were going for the T/A gauges. Best of both worlds right there, I'd love to do the T/A interior. It's the best part of the car. You'll have to let me know how it goes. _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

| Interior yes, gauges no. Car is getting full GTA interior (dash, seats, ect.) but Autometer gauges. |

That's a fricken nice car for a 16 year old. Although I vote for a spoiler.

You're not doing that hokey two 5" autometers and a black plexi plate across the other two openings are you? ala this. _________________

| Nope. The entire plate will be replaced. Do you remember the way I had them set up in my IROC dash? |

| Yeah. Just cutting a chunk out of the firebird bezel or doing away with it completely? |

So no vents or switches or will those be pulled from some other car? (You can tell I'm having a difficult time picturing it without the gauge surround. ) |

Surround stays, man. I need some way to turn the headlights on! I'm just replacing the inner gauge bezel.
*Edit: So I guess I kinda sent you down the wrong imaginative road there, Ian. I am keeping the lower part (switches). I'm still uncertain if I'm just gonna replace the center of the bezel, or remove everything, and mount the vents and lightswitch in the new plate. Damn car doesn't even have the HVAC in it yet. |

Sweet T/A resurrection!
Pretty nice.

P.S. It's always cute when the Camaro guys discover all the cool T/A goodies _________________ Red Sled: 89 GTA, 383, TKO, N2O

My T/A dash is one of my favorite things about the car! I'm not down with the "no spoiler" thing though. I'm putting a highrise Z28 spoiler on mine. (I know, Aaron, I know...) _________________ '86 Trans Am - 5.0L TPI - LT1 cam - 700R4 - WS6

Car looks great! when I had my bird in high school it was a 305/auto/2.73 combo. Good thing is the high school girls don't know that. _________________

Post a picture of the whole car from the side. I want to see what's worse, no spoiler or a big ass hood. |
