1991 Chevrolet Camaro RS

PostPosted: Tue Dec 14, 2010 8:53 pm    Post subject: Hello Reply with quote

Nice to see there's a helpful forum in the area.

I just got ahold of a 1991 Camaro RS 305 5spd and am interested in getting her looking better than I got her. Hoping after I paint it I'll be able to meet some people at an event or two.

I'm going to put up a list of some parts I'm in the market for in the 'for sale' section and hope to meet a few of you that way. I have a lot to learn about the car, I've never owned an F-Body before and am sorry if I sound like a noob when I ask questions but I usually pick things up fast.

That being said, nice to meet all of you.

Thanks,
Adam

Welcome! Noob questions are tolerated as long as you can take the advice given and don't ignore it completely. Smile

You'll find that most members here are willing to lend a hand whenever asked if you show appreciation. Post up some pictures of your car!

Welcome. Glad to see another F-Body newbie. Enjoy the car, don't worry about how it looks, feel free to show up and start meeting people, some of who have been around for ever, don't have cars that look all that great. Wink

Pff...your car is good looking again. I was referring to mine, doing the Van Nuys disappearing paint trick.

It just really wants to be gray. Like a fighter jet. That's it.

Thanks for the welcoming. I was worried the forum might not be very active but it seems there are definitely regulars around =). I'll put up a pic or two in a couple hours but brace yourselves. It was burgandy and now it's sanded burgandy with black primer sections and small patches of bondo.

Embarrassing!

Welcome! I think there are more of us with the "less than perfect" cars anyways. So no worries.

looks great, we have all pretty much had one that started out like that I think, lots of work ahead of ya, but it makes it so much more your car when you brought it back from the dead.

Agreed. I've never built an F-body before but I am a firm believer in Jeeps are built, not bought and when I turned my econo-cherokee into a beast it didn't feel like a purchased car anymore. I knew it inside and out. If that thing farted I could tell you what it ate to get that way haha.

I'm fortunate enough to have this one in seemingly great running condition. The previous owner also thought ahead when sanding it down and had already purchased adhesion promoter, paint, reducer, hardener and a few other supplies. Unfortunately he didn't get around to having it sprayed which is where I'm at now. A couple more weeks and she'll be one color and I'll be satisfied for a day or two =).

Oops, forgot in that last post to ask people's opinion of painting the rims. Is that a no-no because they're original? They have been introduced to the curb a few times by the look of them and I'd love to go with a gloss black but haven't made any final decisions yet.

Thanks
