So I may or may not have gotten my hands on a LS1 T-56 and I am under the impression that I'll need, among other things, to shorten my driveshaft for this to work. My questions are:

Are all 3rd gen driveshafts the same length?
Are 3rd and 4th gen shafts the same length?
Where and how much does it cost to get a driveshaft shortened properly in the Seattle/Tacoma area?
Is there a cost difference to getting an alluminum shaft shortened if they can be shortened?

Thanks in advance

No. But the only ones that were different were I believe the 82 2004r cars. Every other thirdgen had the same length shaft.

Later thirdgen shafts and all 4thgen shafts are the same length.

Its been awhile but I believe NW Driveline charged me in the neighborhood of 150? to shorten/balance an Aluminum shaft. Everett has NW Driveline main building so you can get it done there. I had one shortened a long time ago that I think Paul is using.

No idea on Al vs steel costwise.

Shorten is cheaper than lengthen.

LS1 T56 to replace a stock T5 needs:

McLeod 8617 pilot bushing
McLeod Adapter plate
T56 crossmember possibly slotted (I made mine)
Shorten driveline to fit
Build a shifter extension to move the shifter stick forward and toward the drivers side to center in the shifter boot.
Torque arm mount of some sort. No idea if a 4th gen one would work or not.
Electric Speedometer or an expensive Electric to Cable drive box.

I'll probably get an alluminum dirveshaft and have it shortened so I can keep the car on the road in the meantime, it also gives me an excuse to get an alluminum driveshaft. If it's in Everett that's perfect since I live nearby. Thanks for all the info seems like this is gonna be easier than I originally thought.
