Maybe I am just an old fart? I listed a vehicle for sale on CL's and recieved alot of emails enquiring about it. I responded to every email with my phone number and asked that if they wanted to test drive the truck to give me a call. Every one responded with " call me at xxx-xxxx".
I find this rude. If they want to check it out, is it to much to ask that the purchaser call me and schedule a time to meet up? Am I out of line thinking that they should call me? |

| I always figure if they're really interested they'll call you. Living out in the sticks I also get people who want you to drive to them just to show them whatever you're selling. |

CL is full of scammers. It's just a terrible site. I don't know why it is popular.
Don't work too hard to sell your car to somebody that wants to be chased. If somebody is interested they will come to you. Everybody else is a total waste of your time unless you're willing to give it away at a steal. Ideally, you only give one test drive to the real buyer. Everybody else it just abusing your car. |

I have bought and sold a lot of cars on craiglist. There is a lot of BS on there, but it's not the Mos Eisley that Jon makes it out to be.
Not chasing buyers is true, though. People always come up with some crap about how they want you to come to them (nope), will you take half what you're asking (hell no), and so on. If someone comes to you and takes a test drive, they want your car. The last five or six cars I've sold on there were bought by the first person to test drive them. Got asking price for all but a couple too.
I also find it a very good idea to put your cell number (disguised, of course) directly in the ad. You gotta remember that there are a lot of people who use public computers, or their friends computer, or who otherwise can't easily check e-mail. However almost everyone carries a phone on them. |

| Welp, the first guy to drive it bought it. I called the 3 other guys that were supposed to look at it to tell them that it was sold and all of them said they were only going to offer 100 - 150 for it. |

| I don't understand the mentality of offering $150 for a car anymore. I mean its worth $300 just to haul it in to the metal recyclers. |

all things considered, I've had pretty good luck selling stuff on CL.
I always request "No emails" just because I don't want to deal with getting emails from someone in Nigeria.
Sometimes even if you're clear about what you're selling in the add you get a few dorks who have a complete lack of reading comprehension.
But it's free to post...so... _________________
