I am looking for any pictures (don't have to be good ones) of the two brackets on either side of the dash that attach it to the car below the a-pillars (think where your left knee would be while driving).
I have discovered that GM changed the brackets from Camaro to Bird, so I need to replicate the Bird brackets as best I can. |

You should have asked any time in the last 3 years when my dash was apart. Now it's all put together again.
I have a picture of the whole inside of my car. Here is a zoom in on the brackets.

You know I was in the shop looking at it sitting there all cocked off going "F***! at least Jon was smart enough to put a Bird dash back into a Bird..."

Why not just get those brackets from the Tumwater yard? _________________ '86 Trans Am - 5.0L TPI - LT1 cam - 700R4 - WS6

Was just at Tumwater this morning. Not gonna drive back 70 miles just for stupid brackets.
Plus the brackets are welded into the a-pillar, so it would be just as hard to build new ones as it would be to try and do a cut and weld on the stockers. |

| I just added pictures to my first post. I think the dash support bar sat on those tabs and there was a weld nut on the support bar to accept a bolt. |

Oh ya, I just remembered. There was a center brace on the Firebird that doesn't exist on the Camaros. It is a Z shaped metal with a plastic cover on part of it. The bracket bolts to the top of the firewall just under the window and goes down to the radio pod. That one took me a while to figure out and it has to go in first before almost anything else goes in. (Yes, I had to remove the whole freaking dash because it was a left over part that I didn't know what to do with.)

Jon, you rock, dude. That is exactly what I wanted to see. I have the dash in hand, and I have seen the support bar, and how/where it is tapped. I just needed a look at the Bird brackets. They are much simpler than the Camaro ones (which are about 10" x 2" and have a stud on the top). Should be no problem to bolt something on that comes out at that height.
Thanks!

That bar does in fact exist on the Camaro, however it is much wider, and at a much shallower angle. The holes under the windshield for both of those brackets are in the same place. That much I confirmed today. I also confirmed that all of the small plastic risers along the top of the dash also line up. |

Hey, it's the least I can do with all the times you've helped me.
Let me know what else you need to know. The dash install is still pretty fresh in my memory and I had it down to bare metal. |

Right now kinda stuck with a missing HVAC piece. Gonna see if I can fab something up tomorrow to save a yard run. |
