I'm not as familiar as I once was with the RPO codes.
But my grandpa was looking at a 92 Z-28, i know the 350's only came with auto's (which this one is) but what's the code to ID a factory 350 car? also the all disk break option? |

| The VIN should indicated the engine from the factory. No need to even look for an RPO sheet if all you want to know is the factory engine. |

8th digit should be the number 8 for a 350 car _________________

Just for future reference, L98 and B2L are the RPO codes you'd be looking for. _________________

L98 is only aluminum heads (Corvette motor), right? I've only heard B2L for a Camaro. _________________ '86 Trans Am - 5.0L TPI - LT1 cam - 700R4 - WS6

L98 was the designation for both iron and aluminum heads. IIRC first year TPI vettes were also iron head. Aluminum started sometime in the second year of the run.

Really? I didn't think the 'Vettes got the aluminum heads until the 86-87 changeover to centerbolt heads, and 1pc rear main.
IIRC TPI started in the corvette in 1984. Camaro got it in 85. _________________

84 was cross-fire not TPI. 85 had L98, iron heads. Aluminum head L98 started somewhere in the middle of 86 run. Aluminum head L98 was only on vettes.

For the birds/camaros when you got L98 it automagically meant you got the code B2L (which in our case, meant iron heads).
Now this is obviously hearsay since I've never owned a 350 before. _________________

I remember that too.. Not entirely positive but I think the aluminum L98s were perimeter bolt.. and stayed that way in the vette til the lt1 came out. |

Not positive on this one but thought that all of the L98 aluminum heads were center bolt but the intakes had the old intake bolt angles. Pretty sure that is the difference between the corvette TPI base and the F body TPI base.
