1) What's the best product to replace the foam sealant on the various HVAC boxes? Mine's not so foamy anymore.
2) Who carries a decent heater core anymore? Most everybody seems to sell the same Hecho en Mexico pieces with crappy fit.
Yeah, I'm working on this instead of the motor... |

Napa x2.
Actually Home Depot has a big selection of foam tape in various widths and thicknesses.
Got a Napa core in mine for about 5 years now. Fit fine. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

my heater core works great, got it from o'reilly when i did the swap, i think its the only one that anyone carries because i looked evrywhere when i was looking for mine, napa, o'reilly, summit, ebay, all had same part number from same brand
could the foam tape be the reason why the blowby is entering my heater vents???
cause idk how that vapor is gettin in there, and i didnt replace and foam when i put the box back on _________________

Could be a little bit that. Otherwise it's just from the freshair "vent" spot. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

FWIW I was referring to the thick foam that goes in between the individual boxes under the dash, not the goopy stuff that seals the engine-side heater box to the firewall. However your mention of Homo Depot foam tape gives me an idea.
I had thought Brandon mentioned before than NAPA coolant parts had gone down the crapper, but I will give them a look. |

I'm not sure where I found it but when I just did the most recent heater core (replaced during the motor swap because it sat empty for a year or so ) I found some closed cell 1/4" thick foam tape around the shop I think we picked up from the de-pot awhile back. Seems like it helped seal everything up better. _________________
