If a person was to get a reckless driving ticket in pierce county for speeding, what does it amount to with no dollar amount posted and a mandatory court appearance?

Just curious, Embarassed

awww, man that sucks alot.

I was having a good day, spent 3 hours changing my sister's starter and I was excited to go to school(for once).

I was running a little late but would of been to class on time, then I ran out of gas(no gauge, just a light). I got gas and headed for the road. I screwed off last year, so I was trying to do good this year at school, I wanted to be on time and the open road wanted me to be on time too. Wink j/k

Its easier then I thought to speed, with a 10.5 redline, I can go 35mph in third gear, or I can go 90mph in third gear, this was my downfall. I didn't even see the cop, I was 2 blocks from school and stopped at a light trying to turn. It took him like 1.5 minutes to catch up to me, I saw him in the mirror but didn't even think about it till he was in the turn lane, stopped behind me.

long story short, going 69 in a 35.. You get arrested for that, but I think almost everyone gets released at the scene because of money and time involved.

I also get yelled at by the backup cop for having a firefighter sticker on my bike.

I have a meeting with a lawyer on Monday that Luke suggested to me, hopefully he can help!

On a side note, I think I'll sell my fast vehicles and slow down for a while.. anyone want a Suzuki sv650s for cheap?

I sold my supercharged Corvette for a similar reason (not as bad as yours, though! Laughing). You have to do whatever it takes to keep yourself honest. Sometimes that means putting away the temptation for a while.

Lawyer up, don't plead or admit to anything. Take deferred as a last resort. Don't attempt to pay part of the ticket, or do any extenuating circumstance BS, or any of that.

Also, see if your lawyer can go to court in your stead. The judge doesn't need to see you; he won't like you. He won't mind your lawyer as much though.

FYI, NEVER say anything to the cop other than thank you have a nice day. Admit nothing. Makes it that much easier for the lawyer to get you off. Technicalities are your friend. I was popped for reckless driving a few times a number of years ago and got off almost everytime on simple things. They once forgot to provide discovery and bam! Scottfree. Very Happy

If convicted though, kiss your license goodbye and expect an sr22 liability form for your ins company. (which some won't even take, ala state farm).

I didn't admit anything, all I said was I was late for class and I am sorry. He didn't even do the usual "do you know why your being stopped" he just went straight for "I'm with the SPD and your under arrest" I was pretty shocked.

Does that go on my record for being arrested?

I hope I can get some kind of deal, I don't want to get royally screwed on my one and only ticket on my record.

and my insurance will be crazy high, its already high with a clean record and being male and a teenager..

No no no... Any deal you get is just going to backdoor you into higher insurance rates, and more points on your license.

Your best bet is to get a lawyer and weasel out of it entirely. Like Ian said, you'd be amazed what simple procedural typos and mistakes will get you out of.

Also, were you arrested, or just detained (i.e. did he Mirandize you)?

Remember to honk when you drive by Vern Fonk. Very Happy

It'll always show up but if its dismissed they can't do anything about it and they're not supposed to let that sway their decision on any future infractions.

That's what I meant by deal Wink

and he did Mirandize me, while reading it off a card, can't they remember that crap? I got to sit in the back of a cop car for 15 minutes, hella uncomfortable.

haha sure it wont effect their decision,

I have Safeco for motorcycle insurance, its a contract for a year(you have to keep it for a year), with monthly payments, can they raise that without giving me the choice to drop it completely?

They can, but if they mess that up AT ALL. You're free to go.

I've had a cop say to me, "You know how long it took me to catch up to you?!" Very Happy

No. Whatever you get convicted of goes on your record. Wink

Laughing I got once, "Son, I've been chasing you for 12 miles. How fast were you going?"

Uh...the speed limit?
