2001 Camaro SS....
... no seriously, I did. A few days ago I got a hair brained idea I could start buying a selling late model Camaro / Firebirds (something I at least understand) to make cash for my car. I've been all over ebay the last few days looking for a nice Camaro or Trans Am without reserve and it already paid off! I cannot believe I just bought this car for $6900!
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280563850956&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSA:MOTORS:1123#ht_572wt_1167
It will only cost me about $300 to fly to Rhode Island, pick up my car and drive it home where I can sell it for $9K - $11K. I've got a road trip coming up in the next couple days, gents! |

Looks like a nice ride! I know some folks with the 4th Gen and dig it!
Sounds good on the coin as well! _________________

Jon, I think Gabe and I have possibly been a bad influence on you.
I predict spectacular results; succeed or fail, this will be brilliant. |

Man, that sounds exactly like my train of thought.
But since I stick with the under $2000 deals I never make that much profit. The most profit I ever made was selling a $500 Subaru for $2000 with $20 worth of R134 being my only purchase.
I wouldn't mind having an SS like that at some point, that's a killer deal on that one. Good job man, good job. Have fun road-tripping it back home. _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

Seriously, I don't know why I never thought of this earlier. There just isn't much competition because people need to have enough cash on hand to pay for the car and sit on it for maybe 6 months until it sells. That keeps a ton of people out of the game.
This will either be one of the smartest, or dumbest things I've ever done. We'll know in a little while, won't we? |

I forgot I have frequent flier miles from travel at work. I redeemed some of the miles and both me and my wife are flying to RI for a total of $10. We're making a little mini vacation out of it. I also remembered I have Hilton points accumulated from work, too. I'll bet we can even stay in a hotel for free. This is looking better all the time. |

As a single man I may be missing something here, but a cross-country road trip in an entirely untested and unseen used car with your wife just seems like probably not the best idea ever. |

| I think your imagination is running wild. The worst that can happen is needing to use my cell phone to call a tow truck. Which, consequently, happened today when the starter on my Jeep gave up. |

Heh. Been there done that.
Aaron, remember he's flying many miles away to buy a nice car. Not the junk we're used to. With any sort of luck at all it will not be breaking down on the way back. _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

Oh I have nothing against walking, or towing, or roadside repairs. I have done that many many times in my redneck life.
I have merely found that women tend not to appreciate those things as much as we do. |

Girlfriends are different than wives.
A girlfriend is thinking, "Oh my gosh! Is this my future??? I can't be with this loser who can't even afford a reliable car! I can do better than this."
A wife is thinking, "Brilliant move, Einstein. So who's going to walk, you or me?" |

| I would think crewbie wifes would be used to the cockamamie ideas that members of this group come up with. They probably have their own forum, where they just laugh at each new stupid idea we all come up with. |

Then there's my girlfriend:
"What do you think is wrong with it? Can I help fix it?"
She loves crazy adventures that I cook up and loves to learn about my cars when they break.

That's definitely good to know.

Gabe, she's already been airborne in one of your cars, so she probably figures whatever new scheme you come up with isn't going to be any worse. |

Aaron, as usual your insight into the situation is flawless.
Tony, that picture is very applicable to my situation. However, the Dukes seemed to always land better than I managed. _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

I'd like to point out that most Crewbies are single. Make what you want of that. |

Poor taste in cars + cockamamie ideas + odd internet friends = single.
It actually makes sense you know. The real freak shows around here are the crewbie wives. They are the ones that didn't have enough sense to bail early and fast. _________________ Killing mailboxes since 2009 |
