| So, my 350.. I'm not quite sure what kind of pistons and stuff is in there because I bought it as a crate motor. That being said, what's the highest HP shot of N20 I can put in? |

You can put whatever size you want in hehe. Might not have the desired results though
Which crate engine is it do you know? Is it a GM crate or...?

| It was a crate motor we bought from Bowtie Performance. So I'm pretty sure it's a refurbished block with new parts. So I have no idea what the guy put in besides a bigger cam. hahah |

| There's alot of important things you'll need to know to figure this out. Forged pistons? aftermarket rods? forged crank? What compression? |

This is what I need to know. haha. I guess I'll have to call the guy that built the motor and see if he remembers or has it on file. |

How long ago did you buy it? Any way to figure out which setup it is?
For general info, the nitrous kit I had previously had two setups; 110hp and 150hp. The 110 was for a 305 TPI. So most LB9 were 9.3:1 compression ratio. The 150 shot was for the 350 TPI (L98 was 9.3:1 or 9.5:1 I believe). I started with the 110 and when everything was running correctly I bumped the jets to 150. A 100 or so shot on just about any V8 is usually pretty safe ASSUMING everything else is taken care of... proper fueling, good spark, good exhaust, etc. etc.
Maybe a better way to start this out would be, what are you hoping to achieve with the nitrous? Just for giggles or you have a drag race time in mind? Something else?...

You should have gotten a full receipt and a cam card when you bought the crate. If you lost it, the shop should have one on file for the warranty.
Assuming you lost your receipts, Sumner ain't that far. Just drive out there and see what they have for it. |

This is true. I didn't find the cam card. and the reciept just says crate motor. Nothing about internals. But if I still can't find the cam card I'll just go to Bowtie Performance and get a new one. |

Convential wisdom on a stock motor in good condition is 20hp per cylinder, so a 160 shot should be safe. I read that somewhere, wish I remember where.
EDIT: I got that from an interview in Chevy High Performance with the owner of Texas Nitrous Technologies. _________________ '86 Trans Am - 5.0L TPI - LT1 cam - 700R4 - WS6

That is a great point Zac. Most have found that these cars were engineered for a certain power level. Once you start going beyond that, you discover limits on transmission, rear end, etc. Just something else to think about. The expense often goes beyond the nitrous kit
It is fun though. I was always disappointed that the nitrous didn't give me an 8 speed and cause my floor board bolts to loosen

He could have slowed down he saw the danger to manifold signal lol
But on a serious note Once you begin using it it's like an addiction there will always be another item for the kit or expanding off of what you have and lets not even get into all the flowing fuel pressures and jetting you can get into lol
Depending on what your plans are just try to build some overkill into the system. This is coming from the guy with the 400hp plate kit with all the accessories and a dedicated fuel supply but only has been utilizing a 100 hit out of the kit. Make it to where when you want/can step the power up to higher levels as the engine is built stronger you can. _________________
