my paint job is progressing--slowly--
i am ready to spray color on hood and fenders, and all ground FX along with new rear FG aero wing and deck lid. and pass. door.
working on drivers door, then roof and rear quarter......
now if i can only decide what color black to use..and NO not all blacks are black or the same. AND if u put ANY kind of flake, pearl etc, into the black it looks GREAT only while in the direct sun, otherwise it looks dirty and dull. so since we have so much sun(NOT), it does make a difference.
and then theres the weather-dont get me started............
in Pic's, one door ready to paint, the other not so much.
thanks for listening to my rants.

| Mike, if you want a spare door I have one. Window tracks are crapped out, but it's straight. |

thanks- but i have this one under control, wonce i get a coat of epoxy sealer and 3-4 coats of high build primer-2-3 days sanding- i think this door will work.
just finished replacing window motor etc,(riveted back in)
and this door had no major damage, just dings i did not notice untill i sanded, and its the original door.
pic looks worse than is is, a few hits with body hammer and a very thin bondo coat over a couple loow area's, primer and sand. forever
again thanks
still deciding on paint, i hate these permanent decisions...

I gotcha, man.
For what it's worth, I am fairly partial to GM's factory Norwood black. I might be a touch biased in that regard, however.

Hehe.. I'll bet most any of our doors will look the same when you start sanding. I used one of Slinky's to replace a rusty one on my car.. Didnt look so bad.. then I found so many layers of paint. AND they had previously painted over the decals then reapplied them ontop of the new paint, no less then 4X!!
Whenever anybody talks about having a straight car and just doing a scuff and shoot.. I think about every part I ever sanded like you're doing. |

sanding is a pain in my back....
OK i'll stop whinning...
I am trying to do something "custom" so the uninformed masses can look at it and know its a custom paint job..but nothing is jumping out at me.
my idea(but i do not have the talent to do it) would be a "ghost" firebird on the hood, big like the mid 70's style, in a gold metal flake under black pearl..but
now were is that long board...............................................

You obviously can't be too partial, you sold the car! _________________

I really don't think these cars lend themselves to birds on the hood. Whether ghosted, or plainly visible. My first job was at a full service gas station in Gig Harbor and there used to be a mint ( ) '86 T/A that had a silver hood bird. Looked over the top to me.
I always thought ghosted mopar-ish stripes wouldn't look too heinous on a dark TA.
Like this, just ghosted.

No, I realized how cheap and easy to mod they are. |
