2 in fact! Anybody ready for a ride? Let's see who can keep up with me....
Its a Rokon Trailblazer. 2wd motorcycle. 10hp 3spd trans. It will climb a 60% grade, as long as you can stay on it anyway. The aluminum wheels are hollow. You can fill them with either extra gasoline or water for long trips. When they're empty the bike will float. The guy we got it from said he's carried as much as 3/4s of an elk on it at one time. It only goes about 20mph.. but with those tires thats plenty. Kind of tough to steer.
We also picked up a honda trail70 from the same guy. Havent fired it up yet though. I did ride the rockon around a bit, almost kinda scary. |

Hey Paul, the other morning on the radio they were talking about a 25 year old woman "racing her lawnmower". Said she lost control and hit a parked van. Gave her a reckless ticket or something.. anybody you know??? |

That thing looks like fun. You take it up on the hillside behind you yet?
Those Honda Trail bikes were awesome. Go forever. My first bike was a mini-trail 50. Had friends with Trail 70's and Trail 90's.
You need a leather jacket now for your commute

| I tell you the thing will take some getting used to before I ride very far. Has a nice oscillating wobble. Definatly a sober ride. I guess the inventor used to demonstrate it by riding it into his elcamino with no ramp.. then up onto the cab. It will climb a tree, till you tip over backwards. |

I remember seeing something like that on display at one of the alaska state fairs in fairbanks when visiting relatives years ago. The guy demonstrating had it floating in a big pool paddling it around with an oar. _________________

It actually is called the Trail Breaker. IIRC correctly it was the first 2wd motorcycle ever built.
chevymad, how old is that one? I know they made them at least as far back as the 60's and 70's. |

| From what I can tell this one is a 69 model. Looks to be the only year they had the scalloped gas tank. They started making them in 63. They still make them today. The ones made in the 90s are honda powered, the new ones are kohler powered, and this one is a West Bend 2 stroke. They've been sold under alot of different names. |

I kinda figured it was an older one since it's yellow. I think that was the only color you can get back then, since I've never seen an older one that wasn't yellow.
Are you actually planning on some hunting/bogging/whatever with it, or is it just another toy for the collection? |

| Just took it up the hill to the spring. Almost tipped it over crossing the creek. Runs over trees well. I'm really surprised they still make these things. If you thought a 3 wheeler was dangerous this things crazy. Takes a real man to work it. I'm all worn out. The thing will go anywhere.... with or without you. Problem is trying to stay on. Also I need to work up some brush gaurds of some kind. My pant legs are clear full of nettles/blackberries. The brush kept trying to rip me off the bike. The old 2stroke west bend is a real smoker. It's basically a chainsaw motor they converted for use in gokarts. Fuel mix is 20:1 so the woods just fills with smoke when you drive through. Right about top speed is when the thing finally feels stable, which is too fast to do any wheeling. When you go over or climb a steep bank.. you better have your balance. Cause your feet won't reach the ground! Thats how I bout went over in the creek. There's a sharp 2ft drop on each side of a 4ft wide creek. No problem at all climbing out though.. Front wheel just a spinning for traction. I think the wheels are empty at the moment, wondering if filling them with water or fuel would help stabilize things. I also need to get a new belt and pull rope before going too far. It does have a kick start as well though. But it doesnt seem to work too well. |

There's 125 acres here. I could run around the place for a long time with it. Also if I can find an elk trail to the top of the hill that the bike will fit on I can access the logging roads. They go clear to pe-ell from there.. just don't get caught behind closed gates or they impound your vehicle. |

Sounds good, man.
Water in the tires would probably stabalize it, especially when crossing shallow water, since there's no bouancy problem, but I would think it might cause an inertia problem making it harder to steer. I've heard of rock crawlers using gravel or buckshot in their tires since it doesn't shift as much, but that seems like a lot of trouble. |
