Color Combos
So I wanna repaint my 83 trans am from the stock red to either a black or a burnt orange.
What do you think of these ideas?
Option 1: Everything jet black
Option 2: Jet black with gold bird and pinstripes and gold decals
Option 3: Burnt orange with black handles, mirror, spoiler,
headlight pockets and front bumper grills, black decals
Option 4: All burnt orange with no decals, and black handles.
Option 5: Color scheme of your own (please describe) _________________

2 is classic and 3 might look to much like halloween 4 and 1 are not a bad choice eithor you might want to see how much the pinstriping and mutipal color things will cost painting can cost a lot _________________

This is where I tell you I am doing it myself.
Once the car has its new drivetrain I am gonna buy an HVLP and give it a decent solid color, then my art buddy is gonna lay down some stuff with his airbrush, then Iwill clear coat over it.
For some reason I always think if I dont do it myself, it wont get done right. _________________

Here is the orange I have an image of.
I guess it sort of marroon/orange
As for the painting, my buddy and I are gonna do most of the body work ourselves.
I already painted the interior floor pans and stuff black over summer with por 15.
Interior wise, I am just going to remove the door panels and roll the windows up and paint the door and door jambs. I dont really want to pull the windows but I will get under the weatherstripping.
It may not be 'perfect' but it will be clean. And since I never plan on letting go of this car devalueing it doesn't mean much to me. I love it and that is all that matters. _________________

since the other stuff is black you might as well go with black and the gold pinstripping.
this could be very intersting just dont over do it. |

That is what I figure, but I hear black is really hard to do yourself because every flaw stands out.
It is a few months down the road though. _________________

Hmm.. I think Id stay away from the Burnt Orange with black accents. Like Bart said.. you don't wanna be driving around a Halloween car everyday of the year.
BTW, two thumbs up on doing it yourself. I want to do that with the next F-body I get... save myself THOUSANDS and there is something to be for doing all the work on your car.

Sweet Joe! Then you too can have MikeG tell you that you're not a body man and he can tell you painted your rigs yourself! |
