Hi,
My car is idling a little rough...is there a way to adjust it. This is for the 85Z with a carbed LG4.
Thanks. _________________

Yup there sure is if you just want to adjust the idle, on the driver side of the carb by the throttle there's a little idle set screw. it takes a torx bit and just get it in there and adjust. it's a pain in the ass sometimes. You have to disconnect something I think but I can' honestly remember what. I haven't had a carbed lg4 for quite awhile... |

Ya John's right, theres an idle screw on the drivers side. Faces forward and the linkage bumps into it. That will change your idle speed. It's proibable thought that you have a vacuum leak or some other problem if you have a rough idle. Listen carefully for a vacuum leak. Maybe spray some carb cleaner around the lines, base of the carb, and the manifold edges. If the car smooths out and the idle gets faster when you spray somehting you've probably found the leak. Lots of vacuum lines on the lg4's. |

Fired it up today and it is idling better...i will be changing the oil and spark plugs out soon. John aka RSFreak, helped me Friday night with cleaning/priming the carb. At least it's running, and I have time to get it going good. _________________

Like Brandon said, Tons of Vacuum lines in that thing, Does the car have ac? If so the thing will try to bump up idle if it thinks ac is on too. The one thing you can't change is idle mixtures unless you drill out the plus about 1/3rd of the way down the carb base that covers the adjustment screws. You can't see them but they're there. That ECC (Electronically Controlled Carb) Is a giant PITA. When I had mine I swapped to another carb (Holley) but it was still running like crap. Couldn't pass emissions with it so that sucked. GOod luck though!

A tune up and having the spark plugs all connected (one wire was just hanging) cured the idling issue. _________________
