Car was drove Monday, ran fine.

Tues morning car was to be pulled out of garage so something else could be pulled in. No start. Battery dx'd, charged 4hrs and reconnected. Started, pulled out, charged 2hrs, pulled back in fine, put back on charger for 1hr. Started fine later in evening to test alt. Put on charger another 1hr.

Checked for devices left on. headlights off, doam lights off, fans off(toggled), all aftermarket gauges are keyed and they were left in the seat, no radio, no amps, no neons. All looked good???

Wed, went to drive it to work today, deader then Elvis. Confused

Do you have a power hatch pull down? I put a new seal on my hatch and it wouldn't pull down all the way since the new rubber was thicker and drained my battery. A simple adjustment cured it.

Anyway..........just an idea of something to check.

Nope, The vert has a slam hatch unless someone puts a motor one on it (I think Ian did?).

I'm open for all sorts of ideas.

BTW, its a gell battery. Would this be a symptom of it finally going bad? This is the first gell I have owned.

Take a battery cable off and hook a test light between the cable and the post. Then touch the cable to the post to charge up any capicitors in the system, while the test light is still connected.. then pull the cable away from the post. The light will light if there's a draw somewhere. From here you can disconnect the alternator or pull fuses one at a time until the light goes out. Be sure to pull hte dome light fuse first or having the door open will screw up the test.

A dim light is okay though.

Probably depends on your bulb I guess. I've found a glowing coil is still about an amp, which is a problem.

Ok, well I found out my volt meter has the "test light" trick designed into it. Had a 4.2amp draw.

I started pulling fuses, still had a draw. Disconnect the alt and it went away. So tomorrow after I find my spare alt, I'll combine the two and hope I can make a good one.

After having the front end fixed on the grand prix, I am seriously short on cash. And I was wanting to order headers this month. Guess that gets put off Mad

Your alternator should have diode's in it to protect from that sort of thing. They must have gone out. Is your ignition switch good?

Yea, switch still works. Dad has been pulling it in and out of the garage the past 3 days and has done just fine.

I like fixing things when they cost no money Smile
