I need a new clutch.

First I looked at Spec. Stage 3 sounds good to me.

Ouch, internet says sprung-hub Specs are really bad quality in the last year or two. Something about the springs breaking and falling out... Rolling Eyes that's no good at all.
Enter the Stage 4. Unsprung, hard to drive, holds some good torque, sounds good to me!

Then again, I've heard bad things about Spec. Who else makes a good clutch? RAM! Their Powergrip HD sounds good to me!
http://www.lmperformance.com/16157/7.html
Then I read that RAM's friction surface on their HD clutch requires a special RAM brand flywheel! That's no good, I don't want/need a new flywheel.
The only other choice I can think of is a Centerforce Dual-Friction. Looks overly complex and I don't need no stinkin' "smooth engagement". And, I've heard bad things about the CF DF clutches anyway...

No no no...

So, my problem is a plethora of options, and I don't know what to think about Spec clutches failing, RAM clutches needing a RAM flywheel, and the DF not holding power and fragging itself easily. Keep in mind with my choice I'm looking for a clutch that will hold up to around 5-600lb/ft of torque for ...future plans... Twisted Evil. I have no regard for streetability or clutch chatter. I want something that will grip, hold, and punish me and my drivetrain for years to come. Right now I'm leaning heavily toward the Stage 4 Spec. Future plans may include but are not limited to: T56, supercharger or twin turbo, stronger rear end, slicks etc. I don't want to have to change the clutch again through these and possibly other upgrades.

Don't have data to refute the internet claims on Spec but I am running Spec 3+ for a few years with no probs. Might be an option for you.

Thanks, and your good experience with Spec is a contributing factor in my choice.

The problem is, you've had yours for a few years. All of the Spec problems I see are in the last year or two. That's why I was looking at the Stage 4, because it has the unsprung hub. Most people are having problems with the hub springs breaking and falling out at high RPM/high loads.

My clutch right now slips baaaad in 3/4/5. And it has less than 3k miles on it. Proper break-in too. Crying or Very sad

Stage 3 will get you about 10,000miles max.

Stage 2 will wear closer to a stocker. Pedal feel is stock.
I'm twisting 31 spline Moser Axles on slicks and the clutch sticks great, but it's not as SHOCK grabby as the Spec 3 was.

The Spec 3+ is kinda the best of both worlds, but it's alot more money last time I looked.

The + stages are a lot more money compared to any of the standard stages. I think I'm going to call Spec and talk to someone before I make a decision.

Stage 2 might work, I do want something that won't wear out as soon as a few thousand miles pass by.

That's what I did. I ran the Stage 3 from my own research. Then talked to them personally. I was reluctant to go with the Stage 2, but I really couldn't be happier.
