They're evil!! Tried to pass one this morning in my truck. Got most of the way around.. truck goes to shift up to 4th.. and bang! Redline.. wtf? Coast about 2miles.. pull over. No gears, no forward, no reverse, no noise, but park works! YIPPIEE!
Pisser is I was going to take the new caddy but the battery was dead. So I got in the truck, which was stuck in the mud in front of the barn.. Finally got it unstuck and then this. Called the boss to say i'll be late, then dad to tow me home, then stole the battery out of Steves gta and put it in the caddy.. Too bad that battery was dead as well. So drag out charger, put on boost, and finally get caddy going. Get to work an hour late, even though it was a slow day still seemed like I was rushed from then on.
And its all because of evil school busses I tell ya! There oughta be a law!
Luckily I have the old b&m th350 that came out of the truck still. Don't have money for parts to fix the OD trans at the moment. They're directly interchangeable too.. No driveline problems or anything. Should be rolling again tomorrow night I think. |

Maybe you just shouldn't try to pass school busses.
Sucks about the truck though. Hopefully you can get it running with no issues. |

No, its definatly the busses fault.
I was on a long straightaway with no houses. About a mile ahead was 2 large stops in a row. So I wanted to be in front of the bus before then. I also like to push the loud pedal when I get the chance. Today it just cost me a bit more. If its the convertor like Paul thinks, i've needed to change that for awhile. It has far too much slip in a heavy vehicle like the truck. If it's something else then the trans just wasnt strong enough anyway, time to make some modifications. |

| No, went with a bang. There's not even a drag when you put it in gear. No noise at all while running now, and no fluid leaks. Figure either the convertor or they're also known for have a weak input shaft that shears at a shoulder behind the splines. |

Lol, I know all about evil school busses. You should never try and pass one, even if it only doing 20MPH in a 45 zone on 4 lane wide HW9.
It "might" just toss it's STOP sign out while you pass at 40MPH and the HWP that is behind you might give you a 700.00 dollar ticket for failure to yeild to a school bus. |

No, GTA trans is in the formula. This trans is a 200-4r out of a monte SS. It's stock other then a transgo shiftkit. It's needed a larger servo for some time because more then about 75% throttle causes some slippage when it upshifts.. forget which gear. I've really liked the trans, great shift points, great shifting, tons of OD. But its needed some upgrades. It was also a complete unknown when I got it. One of those where the seller says ya.. its only got 50k miles. I've been afraid to tow much of anything since I put it in.
Now the B&M thats going back in, its stout as hell. I bought it from a friend and it had mostly B&M parts used. Performance clutches, b&m valve body, I believe a b&m convertor as well. It only has 2 problems, no kickdown, and no overdrive. But I never had to worry bout towing, getting on it, or anything like that. |

| My biggest problem.. with that 200 sitting out on the floor.. It has a universal bellhousing.. In other words it would fit a 400 pontiac. Would need to be beefed though. OD would be nice so I could put some gears in the bird. But then the car allready has a th400, can't get much more stout then that. |

Ah, but the beauty of the plan is that the daily still drives. When I first got the OD trans it was meant for the bird, but then I discovered that it was a pia to put in there and a direct drop in for the truck. In the truck it went.
Anyway, the 200-4r is out and on the floor now. Doesnt look like any broken shafts that I can see. At least without taking it apart. Have the convertor draining right now. DAMN I forgot how heavy that trans is. Almost like moving 2 th350s. All the fluid that has come out of it is nice, clean and clear. Havent taken the pan off though. When the trucks out of the way I'll put the trans up on the engine stand and see what I can find. |

On the road again, i just can't wait.. wait..
Got the spare tranny back in the truck. Works great! Forgot how solid and good shifting this trans is. Will take some getting used to the rev's again though.
So the evil of the school bus has been exorcised.. at least for now! |
