Might consider buying some kind of wire holders/separators. Helps keep things organized and keeps plug wires off header tubes.

You've got perimeter bolt valve covers on that 305, so you have a million choices for looms and holders. I had to build some for my centerbolt setup out of Taylor wire looms, but I really liked what I ended up with.

I got some "cut-to-length" wires and routed them under the headers, looks clean. Might have to swap sides with them though, or do new ones again. My passenger side wires have quite a bit more slack than the driver side wires do.

Careful running them under the headers. The '85 Iroc had one side come that way from the factory and the looms would get hot and break causing the wires to swing into the exhaust.

Zip ties work well too. Zip tie 1-3 and 5-7 etc together between the tubes. Then follow up towards the dizzy.

Zip ties FTW. That's how I did them. One ziptie to grab two wires together and a ziptie between them to keep them separated.

Zip ties are the most cost-effective way of keeping plug wires organized. Of course, then you have to cut them off and replace them every time you get new wires. Could get expensive after a while. Laughing

Do the 90's help on the log manifolds that go above the plugs? My old roomie has that setup and is going through wires. I had shorties on my LT1 and used the MSD custom length with 90* boots (with opti spark).

IIRC some were 90/90's and some were 90/straight on my old 85 with log manifolds.

Problem could be the wires themselves, aftermarket (MSD, Taylor...etc) have better insulation than the part store OEM replacements.

That's how Chevy did most of them. It seemed to vary based on what manifold you had though.
