I just realized my new edelbrock vortec TPI manifold didn't come with a splash shield. I'd like to get the motor together completely and not have to wait to pull the old one off my existing motor.
So if you have one of these, please let me know.
Thanks

Most people leave them off.
There isn't really all that much "splash" underthere.
Infact I haven't seen an aftermarket performance intake that has one. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

Well just wanted to have the shield there to stop some of the hear transfer from the hot oil. I don't think they make a valley baffle for the roller cam motors or I'd go that way. Have to do a little research on that one I guess.
I think I found one on TGO. He wants $10 plus shipping. _________________ Member of the "Elite T56 Club" , big brake club, and "burgundy" (not red or maroon) car owner.

Problem with them is sometimes the rivets fall out, and it's a great place for oil to get in and coke. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

I ran into this when putting the Monterey engine together. From what I gathered from Edelbrock's info, the splashtray was installed to keep the hot exhaust crossover passage from cooking the oil, not to keep the hot oil from heating the intake air.
There is no exhaust crossover on most performance manifolds, so most don't have the splash tray. |
