Anybody here know how to rig up a manual torque converter lockup for a 700r? I just want to have a toggle switch for on and off and one for it to turn off when i press the brake. I completely took out the ECU and kicked it to the curb. I don't want to buy a kit because...well...I'm stingy. I have looked all over TGO but they only get into fights and the diagrams I did manage to find were way to complicated for me to understand. Thanks.

I don't see anything complicated in this one.

I did this on my '85 Z28 but to tell you the truth I never really felt any performance benefit. Shrug

No performance benefit, really. Just a gas mileage and a not-cooking-the-snot-out-of-the-700 benefit.

Or you could run a T-56 like the cool kids. Shrug

I'm not in it for performance, just don't want to blow my tranny. Yet. I am going to be putting a 5 or, if I'm lucky, a 6 speed in soon. But thats not likely since I ain't rich. Either way I have to keep the car driveable until then. But will this work even though I don't have the computer hooked up? Idk what the ALDL is hooked up to so...

EDIT: Its a no go with that plan. I had power at pin F and none at pin A so that was good, but it still didn't lock the converter like its supposed to. Anybody know of any other ways?

I don't think it will work without the computer hooked up. Confused

Ok well the ALDL method didn't work. I found another way that says to hook Pin A on the trans connector to a 12+ Ign wire and Pin D to a ground with a switch to ground it out. No luck still. Looks like the damn cars gonna be sitting in a corner for the next year til I figure out what to do with it. I want a t56 but have nowhere near the 2k bucks that takes. I would settle for a t5 but I can't find one of those either. I built this motor so I could drive it. Now look whats happening Bashy Bashy
