i think something broke in my hood latch, like a spring or something because it no longer opens and its really hard to get the hood open, also the little thing on the end of the cable is pushed far back so it doesnt have as much opening force, so i think i am in need of a new latch and cable, anyone have these?

Both of mine have about the same problem. Pull the cable, and if I'm lucky, the hood will pop. Most of the time, I have to find a spot on the hood to give a few solid whacks with the heel of my hand before it will release (sometimes at the nose, others at the base of the windshield). Typical of a lot of older GM cars, my last car was the same.
